First off my name is Robert, I am a car guy for over 30years . I am ASE Master certified in Collison body and paint, ASE Master certified in auto repair and diesel. Also many ICAR and other certifications. I know my stuff pretty well I'd say and have been well diversed .i have owned about 50 of these so called (SQUAREBODYS) through out my life . *** I will give you a honest 1-10 grading of the truck for the age .
ANYWAYS Here I have a super nice original paint 1 owner RARE 1980(square headlights in the 73-80 bodystyle- . usually round ) GMC jimmy I brought up out of Texas. I was absolutely blown away at how clean this JIMMY was when I picked it u, Outside of the heavy flanged headers and dual exhaust this truck is all original.
The interior in this truck is the original fabric, original carpet and original door panels and dash. The headliner looks to be redon, the carpet is original , the door panels are original and are a little chaulky and chipped on the tops , the dash and gauges all work and are perfec, the seats are amazing original shap, the console is nic, the rear inner quarter panels are in good shap, the top has never been removed - interior lights all light up as soon as door is open . truck interior is truly amazing for almost 40 year old 4x4. I sometimes want to take the dogs for a ride and I won't do it with this interior being so nice. All factory gauges work, tilt column even the factory tach is right on . So many options on this truck I can't even list them all so. Look at the glove box sticker.(the joke was from the pervious owner that the glove box option list ran out of room for all the options and GM wrote a few more on some masking tape and stuck it in the clove box next to the option list ) to find out it was true and not a joke- like the outside thermometer found on the drivers door ! INTERIOR IS 8.5 out of 10
The body on this truck is original paint and is rock solid. I absolutely am amazed at all the factory seams and spot welds and undercarriage . it has a rubber undercoat that is just starting to peel off and expose some of the original marroon on the underside of the truck - the truck is 98% rust free - the one inner fender has a small spot of rust where it looks to have trapped some road grime and rusted . fenders doors quarters hood tailgate - rust freebody on the truck is a 9.5 out of 10
Driveline and M echanics ----- I registered the JIMMY in my name and drove it around from time to time throughout the year but never in the winter . the truck always fires up and runs like its fuel injected - super smooth . it goes right to high idle in the morning and then kicks down to reg idle . its 98% original under the hood . the transmission shifts so so nice in this truck - i crawled under and was amazed to find a turbo 400- I really thought id see a 350 turbo but it was a 400 and that explained the shifts - zero slippag, goes right into gear very firmly and Passing gear is right there any time you need it (best shifting trans out of all the trucks ive owned ) . It's a proper turbo 400. The 4x4 has locking hubs and engages right away . The posi rear end with 308 gears is highway friendly and posi rear won't get stuck . The exhaust is good, header has a slight tick (new gasket). Truck sounds nice and tough but not to loud . The original 350 runs good but it's stock - and it sometimes has a bit of blue smoke upon start up and then immediately goes away (my guess valve stem seals) . Engine fires right up, smooth great oil pressure, and idles perfect. Inside and under the valve covers is like brand new. You can read the casting numbers perfectly on the heads. Rockers are perfectly clean . previous original owner always used top of the line oil, and changed it every 1500 miles. Engine 8 out of /10 , trans 9.5 out of 10. driveline with 4x4 andAxles 9/10.
Sterring ans suspension- eventually will needvsome ball joints on right front. Shocks are OK but maybe some fresh ones would eliminate the bounce. And steering wheel sits straight but I would realign the truck. brand new good year wranglers 31x10.50x15 (200 miles on tires) brakes have new front pads - rear inspected and looked good - "e"brake works - overall ---- 8 out of 10
odometer reads 41000 and truck looks like it but because 5 digitsodometer - im gonna say at least 141000- you never know with only 5 digits-
Overall this is one heck of a nice solid truck needs a few things to make it perfect but for its age it is almost perfect in my opinion . I'd drive it across country tomorrow if I had too .
Radio is OEM and works great with rear speakers and front OEM door panel speakers as well .To much to list so please ask questions , leave a phone number with me if you'd like a video of it running, I'm gonna be here to help load if you send a driver. please read over all the glove box options on this truc, i have the original manuals and some original paperwork from day 1
i don't wanna bore you with my typing so please ask any questions you may have now - some guys wanna buy the trucks and cars on ebay so they don't loose them to other potential buyers then they show up and start " NIT PICKING"and trying to lower the price - i wont have any of it - that's why i say ask questions now on anything you may want to know or see or for anymore pictures . the truck is a AS-IS sale just like anything I sell its a 40 year old truck you may drive it for another 40 years without anything breaking but on the other hand you may go 10 miles and something fails - its just the way it goes so i say AS-IS to everything i sell - again id personally drive it anywhere anytime .
lots of cool period correct add on's like KC light, front push ba, gun rack behind the sea, cb radi, factory roll ba, trailer hitc,
no refunds or returns of anykind -
i will gladly assist in loading it and working with your transport company -
i did the best i could in freezing weather to rinse some mud off the truck - but please understand the circumstances up here in the north east - the truck will clean up much better . (truck has never seen or touched a salty road ).
