According to documents from Ford. only 204 - 427 Galaxie convertibles were built in 1964 (compared with 411 in 1963) making this a super rare find. Documents from Ford did not differentiate between the R-Code 425 HP or Q-Code 410HP 427's so it's anyone's guess. how many R-Code convertibles were actually built. This particular car was built on February 11. 1964 and delivered to Clifford Motors in Sun Prairie. WI where it was sold new on March 2. 1964. The original owner parked the car in 1977 after rolling 64. 00 miles on it. basically in the condition it exists in today. Equipped as the deluxe XL model. it retains it's original bucket seats. floor console and 4-speed shifter. Interior is original and complete except for the seat belts. Exterior trim is original and all there. Making this car even more rare is the fact that it came from the factory with Transistorized Ignition. a 4. 10 rear end and triple white color combination. Rust on this car is very typical of the 64 Galaxie body style where the quarters rotted from the inside out. The lower rear quarters are rusty and need replaced. except for a hole on each side behind the wheel houses and in front of the tail light buckets. the trunk pan is good (does not need to be replaced). lower passenger side door corner is rusty and needs repaired or replaced. the rear bumper is rusty and needs replaced. All else looks to be surface rust. Firewall. front floor pan. rear floor pan. inner fenders. frame. etc. look OK except for surface rust. The original 427 was replaced very early in it's life due to poor gas mileage (the original owner reported 4mpg gas mileage with the 427). It currently has a 390 block and heads (not running). Correct 427 K intake. BK BJ carbs. air cleaner and baldy valve covers are setting atop the 390 block and come with the car. Original cast headers are in place as is the transmission and rear end. The car currently sits on 15" wheels but they are not the correct HiPo Kelsey Hayes wheels. Hub caps are correct and original. Very rare Transistorized Ignition. 4. 10 rear end car from the factory. I am the second registered owner. It's the real deal ultra rare. seldom seen 427 4-speed Galaxie convertible with owner history and documentation to day one (Original Ford Registered Owner Identification Card. Original Owners Manual etc. ) making it a great project for the serious Ford collector. This car is sold with no warranty what so ever and is sold as-is. where-is! Inspection is encouraged so you can see exactly what this rare care is about. I reserve the right to end the auction early. The car will not be released until the funds have cleared my bank. no exceptions!
