About this vehicleThis 1963 Ford Thunderbird is an original. The owner has had it for 5+ years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for car shows.Seller's DescriptionIf you clicked on this auction, you are obviously a person with good taste and are seeking a highly-desired and collectible vehicle. The time is right for classic car investments, and this 1963 Ford Thunderbird will only increase in value while providing you with the fun of tooling around to car shows and cruise-ins. Several trophies attest to the niceness of this Tbird. Sunday drives take you back to an era when times were simpler and cars were works of art.
This is the Tbird you are after... an originally California car that I purchased from a classic car broker in Texas in 2007. There is no rust or rot on this car and it presents exceptionally well. Hopefully you have done your research and looked at several Tbirds prior to this one and know what rusted-out junk is out there and the prices they are bringing. Even "project" cars are bringing $10K plus. You also know that a Thunderbird such as this comes along only a couple of times a year, if even then. Having only 94,000 original miles, this is one nice Tbird that anyone would be proud to own. This is a very nice driver-quality car that looks and runs beautifully.
The Corinthian White paint shines very nicely and is a solid "9" with very few chips and blemishes. The turquoise interior is very presentable, again... driver quality. Easy upgrades to the door panels would bring the interior to a near "9" as well, since the chrome, headliner, seats, and carpet are all very nice. Of course this 'Bird has the innovative "swing away" steering column. Now leather-wrapped, the steering wheel is in nice shape with no chunks missing. Dual horns deliver the loud, sweet '60's notes. The original dash has the typical cracks extending from the speaker. The factory AM radio works when it wants to. All gauges and lights function as they should, as do the wipers. The windows roll up and down easily and the doors shut solidly. The "wing vents" are functional.
The numbers-matching 390 is now topped with an Edelbrock 4bbl carburetor (factory carb included with the sale) and has an electronic ignition upgrade (Petronix). The engine starts, idles, and runs strong with a soft throaty dual exhaust tone. The Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission shifts well.
The car now sports chrome "spider caps" on the Coker wide white wall radials for a "custom" look, but the classy factory hubcaps are included for the "original" look. The spare is new and the factory bumper jack still remains in the trunk. The car has a lowered look, but sits on the original suspension. The car floats down the road and the ride is incredibly nice. The 390 (300 HP) motivates this beauty without hesitation. The power brakes stop the car straight and firm. The factory AC blew cold earlier this year, but does not now; I haven't had time to investigate.
Again this is a very nice example of a highly sought after and desired vehicle. 1963 was the last year for this body style... the "bullet birds". The stainless and chrome trim is complete and is in very nice shape. Look closely at the pictures and you will see no rust or rot. The rockers, jambs, mounts, floor pans, drip rails, frame, etc., are all solid and rust free. I have always garaged this vehicle and stored it from late October through March/April, then driven only on nice days to carshows, cruise-ins, parades, and on sunny country drives.
I have tried to describe this vehicle the best I can, but please ask any questions. It has been my pride and joy for the last 13 yrs, but the time has come to let someone else enjoy this car. I would strongly encourage you arrange a showing and test drive of the 'Bird with me, as this is considerable investment on your part. Nothing can replace the touch, feel, and smell of a test drive after "kicking the tires" to quash any apprehensions of buying a vehicle of this nature online.
If you are the successful bidder, I will gladly be available for a transporter of your choice, but you are responsible for securing said transporter and for all costs associated with shipping the vehicle. Since this is being sold by a private party, no warranties are written, expressed, or implied. I also have no exorbitant paperwork fees charged by dealers. You are buying this 57 yr-old vehicle used and as-is. The title is clean, clear, and in hand. The title will not be signed over to the successful bidder until the winning amount has cleared your bank and is sitting in my bank. Please be aware, this process can take up to 14 days. The Thunderbird does not leave my possession unil the money has cleared. Title transfer, taxes, registration, and safety inspection (if any) required by your state/province is your responsibility. A non-refundable deposit of $500 helps make this a serious auction on your part, so please be serious with your bids. PLEASE RE-READ THIS PARAGRAPH, then make sure you have the approval from your spouse, mother, and banker before you bid.
Please bid like you have to have this classic vehicle as you know it will only increase in value. Also, be prepared to acknowledge all the "thumbs-up" you will get when driving this beautiful car! Thanks, and best of luck!
