Some builds are dated and need to be modernized. while others are so thoroughly modern they'll be dated by next year. One of the best bets you can place is on a timeless creation like this all-steel Ford pickup. It's a fully sorted masterpiece that was carefully planned and bolted together by someone who definitely knew their way around a garage. The parts list includes familiar items like a small block V8. a smooth shifting 5-speed. brilliant paint and a thoroughly tweaked interior; but the execution of those items is what sets the truck apart. If you've been searching for a super cool hot rod that can be driven and shown with pride. this impressive Ford is the perfect solution!BODYWORK/TRIMWith its wind-swept design and classic good looks. the 1940 Ford has always been a rare and highly desirable line of cars. And not surprisingly. gearheads. customizers and 70 years' worth of fans have elevated it to one of hot rodding's greatest cultural icons. A trophy winning cruiser that benefitted from a 2013 body-off restoration. this awesome truck began a new life as a show stopping head turner. That restoration began when its voluptuous body was stripped all the way to bare metal. Once that metal was super solid and virtually seamless. a wood bed was complemented with stainless skid strips. A chopped bumper. massaged headlights. tweaked running boards and a custom roll pan joined smoked glass and select trim to provide the simple yet custom perfection that characterizes modern street rodding. Everything not polished was sealed in a smooth coat of brilliant blue 2-stage. And today. this sharp pickup is one sizzling classic that looks cooler than pretty much every car at any show its owner chooses to attend!ENGINEWhen that owner purchased this Ford it was all flathead. all the way. And. while the flathead is a nice novelty that provides a really authentic ownership experience. serious road chops require serious upgrades. Built by Riverside Machine Shop of Charleston. Tennessee. the truck's serious chops come in the form of a 351 cubic inch V8. And that block's serious upgrades include being bored and stroked to 408 cubic inches of blue oval bliss. The mean mill's energy mixture is supplied by a big Holley carburetor. which is sandwiched between an Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake and modified Cadillac 'bat wing' air cleaner. That mixture travels in to Pro Line Racing heads. which hang finned valve covers and polished breathers over high quality roller rockers and SRP pistons. That valvetrain combusts thanks to a roller timing set and requisite Comp roller cam. Fire for that combustion comes courtesy of an MSD Blaster 2 coil. an MSD Pro-Billet distributor and loomed Pertronix Flame-Thrower plug wires. That fire is kept in check by a Griffin aluminum radiator. which is mated to a big electric puller fan. A Billet Specialties Tru Trac system spins a polished Powermaster alternator above a reliable Ford water pump while spent gases are cycled through coated Sanderson headers. And first rate details. like billet hose fittings. stainless fluid lines and custom inner fenders. ensure the truck is more than just a random curbside attraction. DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSIONEvery good street rod has a solid foundation. Flip this Ford upside down and you'll find a roster of mechanical improvements that mix classic looks with modern mobility. A Tremec TKO600 5-speed spins comfortably between a billet steel flywheel. a Street & Performance pressure plate. a McLeod hydraulic clutch and a Lakewood bellhousing. That proven gearbox drives a body-matched Ford 9-inch. which pushes what appears to be a custom. thoroughly reinforced chassis. At the nose of that chassis. a Heidts Superide II front half props the engine up using proven coil-over-shocks and modern rack-and-pinion steering. At the back of that chassis. a modern 4-bar setup utilizes two more coil-overs to maintain ride height and increase grip. 4-wheel disc brakes are a welcome addition and big performance upgrade. There's a coated. mandrel-bent exhaust system that makes good use of polished. glasspack-style mufflers. Everything rides on tough looking Billet Specialties wheels. which spin 215/55R17 BF Goodrich Advantage T/As in front of 305/45R18 Nitto NT05Rs. And items like stainless fuel lines. a trusted Holley fuel pump and a polished stainless fuel tank finish an otherwise impressive canvas. INTERIORWrapped in striking Tan leather. this pickup's warm and welcoming interior looks straight out of a vintage Hot Rod magazine. A body-matched dash hangs clean Classic Instruments telemetry. modern Vintage Air climate control and a hidden Custom Autosound radio between polished foot pedals. a polished steering column and a leather-wrapped. banjo-style wheel. In front of that dash. a broad bench seat. partitioned for the driver and one lucky passenger. seems appropriate to the vintage feel of the truck's restoration. At the bottom of that seat. sleek carpet trims a curved shifter and polished hand brake in a combination of straight leather and mirrored stainless. At the sides of the passengers. simple door panels are dotted with small pulls and traditional handles. And above those panels. a custom leather headliner frames an oval rearview mirror. OUR SALE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTATIONRestoration photosRestoration receiptsA cam cardComponent manualsA remote for the truck's Custom Autosound stereoA chrome vanity plate and matching tag bracket'40s Fords have aged with more grace than most. wearing a design that's still capable of turning heads in its basic factory form. The restorer's decision to leave those basics alone and make only time-tested adjustments is a huge part of why this truck works so well. With its massaged motor. smooth-shifting 5-speed. comfortable interior and vintage swagger. you'll never tire of finding this custom in your garage. Stop watching opportunity pass you by.
