One look at this 1965 Ford Mustang GT-350 tribute is all that it takes to reinforce the notion that the first generation of Mustang fastbacks were some of the best-looking cars ever to emerge from Detroit. Combine the scant number of miles it's logged since its restoration with the impressive array of top tier performance components it's got on board, and you have a fresh, strong-running, classic ride that provides an exhilarating experience to match its undeniable curb appeal.
The white exterior is ornamented by a pair of broad blue stripes running across the top to ably match the color scheme of the original Shelby GT350s, making for one great looking classic muscle car in the process. Additional visual homages to the GT350 include the addition of side scoops - a modification that's well done, as they sit nice and flush just behind the doors - as well as a pair of matching blue stripes across the rockers. Its array of chrome - from the bumper and running horse grille emblem up front to the distinctive pair of triple lens taillights in back - represents itself well, with no serious dings or misalignment, and the Shelby gas cap and dual exhaust pipes protruding just the right amount out of the rear valance are nice finishing touches.
Inside, there's not much evidence of wear on the black vinyl interior, with fresh looking buckets up front and bench seat in back. The expanse of black carpeting running underneath also looks great, and the application of Dynamat sits just below that to reduce heat and noise coming off the asphalt, which makes for a much more comfortable ride. An especially clean dash area lies just beyond the woodgrain Shelby steering wheel, housing a set of Dakota digital gauges in the instrument cluster and a retro-style AM/FM stereo with satellite connectivity. Just below, a pair of vents sit ready to carry the climate control work of the Vintage Air system into the cockpit to keep you and your passengers comfortable. Raise the deck lid in back and you'll find a full-size spare in tow, residing with the battery, which has been relocated from up front.
There's quite an assembly of quality components lurking underneath the scooped hood. A Jasper 302 cubic inch V8 sits front and center and, armed with a performance cam and 4-barrel carb, packs a full 330 horsepower - about 25 more than the original GT350s came with and more than enough to propel this relatively light weight car with gusto as it exhales into its Hooker headers. The small-block is adorned with a Billet Specialities Tru Trac serpentine pulley system that adds a great look to the powerplant and a Be Cool aluminum radiator in front to keep temperatures down in more demanding conditions. A 4-speed top-loader manual transmission stands ready to be put through its paces via the Hurst shifter in the cockpit. Even the most die-hard classic car enthusiasts will admit that the excessive slop plaguing most vintage steering boxes is less than charming, so the Heidts front end, with its rack and pinion steering, is a welcome addition to this '65 that vastly improves its driving experience. There are power brakes at all four corners, with discs in front, so you'll also have fade-resistant stopping power at your disposal. This nostalgia-evoking performer sits on a set of 15" American Racing Torq Thrust wheels wrapped with Cooper Cobra radials.
With its iconic visual appeal combining with a powerful drivetrain and an impressive array of top tier components, this 1965 Ford Mustang GT350 tribute is a must see. Call today!
