Car description

1929 Model A Special Coupe
You are viewing a very cool old school Hot Rod special coupe built to drive. The car was first built in 1957/58. I saw the car finished in 59 when I was 15 years old and thought it was so cool and took a ride in it with the original builder. Found the car decades later and bought it in 85. Restored the car leaving most of the original characteristics. It was a full restoration and finished a couple of years later. The car has been driven 28K fun miles and stills looks very fresh. Super nice driving car that tracks and handles excellent. I have had the car up to 120 mph before and cruises nice between 70 and 90 mph. Quality build with solid bones. Dialed in and ready to be enjoyed by a new owner.

Please read on for more particulars of the car:
Body/Paint:
All steel body including the bobbed fenders. The body was taken down to bare metal, patched where needed, chopped 4 inches, channeled 2 inches, finished out ready for primer and paint. It was all done in the 50’s. The rear fenders have been bobbed and the front fenders are made from a 36 Ford Spare tire covers very nicely done and original from the initial built in 58. The visor is like an original, but was shaved in half the width. Paint is NAPA single stage black and red. The paint is nice and shows well. Nice and flat. Top is done like original and is what makes it a Special Coupe. They were made only the second half of 28 and the first half of 29. Pretty rare actually. The roof is not filled. All the wood was replaced and the roof was done as stock and built well.

Interior: The interior is functional with no AC, but does have a small heater. Good stereo system with CD player and under dash speakers. GM tilt column, SW gauges, Seat is out of a 9 passenger rear seat van and the perfect width of the car. Nice storage behind the seats. Seats fold completely down both ways with belts. Lumbar support bladder and the seat adjust front to back with very nicely done headliner.

Running Gear: Mild 283 30 over (288 CI) built as stock around 250 horse with only 500 miles on rebuilt cast iron heads. Vintage aluminum Edelbrock C3BX intake manifold with Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. Stock distributor with points. Vintage Corvette value covers and ram horn exhaust manifolds. Car runs cool. Trans is a TH 350 with shift kit and lock up switch. Rear end is a HD original 57 Olds narrowed 3 inches with 323 gears open, non posi. All rebuilt when car was refinished. Cast iron original Vega steering box. The car gets 23 mpg when driven at normal hiway speed.

Suspension: Original fully boxed front to back frame with full X. Quarter elliptic rear springs with shocks and pan hard rod. Spilt wishbones custom bent like back in the day providing better stability and turning radius. The car steers and tracks really easy. Dropped front axle as originally built in 58. It all works together and creates a traditional stance. The car tracks straight as an arrow at hi speed. The frame has added support cross beams that are bolted in so they can be removed if needed. Very solid set up.

Glass: Tinted gray.

Exhaust: Sounds nice with trumpet tips.

Brakes: Old skool master cylinder with 48 Ford fronts and 58 olds drums in the rear. Stops good, but like a drum brake car. The car is pretty lite.

Wheels/Tires: Jake and full spare in the trunk with the battery. Front wheels are Ford 15X5.5 and rear wheels are original Lincoln 15X6 inch with new Coker Classics radials with only 2K miles on them. Front 165X15 and rear 215/75 15.

Summary: The car is in very nice condition and well cared for over the years. Looks like it was built 5 years ago. Everything works on the car. Runs and drives excellent and very reliable. I have over 100 pictures of the car so please contact me and provide your email address if you would like additional pictures. Reasonable price so why build when you can enjoy today. Great value for the money.
