For sale is our rare 62,500 original mile 1978 Ford Bronco Custom 4 speed manual. It is 1 of 72 Customs, and 1 of 238 ‘78 Broncos in Wimbledon White with a Cranberry Red stripe. The Bronco was sold new in Newhall California. And lived all of its life there until 3 months ago. The Bronco was ordered with a number of unique options, especially for a Custom including a factory GT bar, locking rear axle, quad front shocks, bright finish grille, skid plates and much more. The attached Marti report documents all the options.
The heart of this truck is a 351 cubic inch V8 backed by a 4 speed manual transmission. The engine bay is a good clean example of original. It is still fitted with the factory 3.50 gear ratio and limited slip rear end. Truck runs and drives as new. I would not hesitate to fly in and drive this home. The Bronco runs and drives amazing. The truck spent most of its life as a gentleman’s weekend toy and the maintenance was always kept up on this Bronco over the years and it shows.
Truck wears a set of 15 inch wagon wheels with brand new BFGoodrich KO2 all terrain tires in 32x11.5R15.
The exterior of the Bronco is in great shape over all. For the most part the body is extremely solid and all the original panels are in great shape. The mostly original paint still shines very well but does have some chips, scratches and minor issues as expected with its age. The photos do not do the colors justice, this truck really shines. The Bronco is rust free as you would expect from a life in Southern California. The wheel wells, cab mounts, floors and all other common ford truck rust spots are in amazing shape on this truck. The frame and underside is all original, clean and rust free. The fiberglass top was refinished by a know shop that specializes in bronco and blazer tops. The top window gaskets are one of the few things on the truck that could use replacing, they are showing their age. All the bumpers, trim and other chrome show very well for their age.
The original low back bucket seats are still present, the seats look as if they have been recovered at some point. The rear seat is not installed but comes with the truck, according to the previous owner it has not been installed since the mid-90s. He removed it to put camping and off-road supplies in the back and it has never been refitted. The red carpet has been replaced and shows very nice. All the gauges, lights and switches work as they should. The original steering wheel is complete crack free. The radio has been replaced with a more modern radio with AUX input. It has a Uniden CB radio on a bracket on the roof. The rear windowstill works as it should. The factory heater still works as it should, it had dealer installed stand-alone A/C installed, most of this until is still there but currently needs a compressor to work.
This is hands down one of the nicest survivor Broncos I have ever been around. More photos available upon request.
