1967 Mustang GT500 Convertible Big Block 428 w/dual Holley carbs (2x4bbl). Downsizing and it's time to part with this beauty. This car turns heads and will attract a crowd. Purchased in 2013 fresh off a complete nut and bolt professional restoration w/correct red oxide floors (look underneath car) around 2010. This is a tribute to the very car Shelby built to bring in the Ford execs to show him what he could do. The ONE and only original car sold for $880,000! The police interceptor 428cid Big Block with 2x4bbl Holleys factory rated @335HP but feels well over 400HP. Many speculate the low HP rating was to qualify for a different class race divisions. Heavy duty C6 automatic transmission, original HD Ford 9" rear differential, Candyapple Red pain w/white stripes and GT500 callouts, factory tach + correct Shelby branded Stewart/Warner gauges, A/C, 3 spoke wood and stainless wheel, great sounding polished dual exhaust, correct Shelby grill w/inboard driving lights, Shelby 5 spoke alloys (are showing some slight corrosion - see pics), chrome and polished stainless trim, detailed engine compartment and truck. Beautifully reproduced, great looking and lightning fast!
I've made a few changes since the purchase - Changed round roll bar for 1968 version for looks (still need to install a couple eyelets for snap buttons that are on boot cover), replaced Points with Electronic Ignition for reliability, Upgraded from steel radiator to aluminum for increased cooling capacity, new water pump, $1,755 Custom Autosound AM/FM radio for 1967 Mustang look with Bluetooth - Digital Designs enclosure - B55 5 channel amp (when you drive you and want to listen to tunes with the top town at all speeds - cruising to highway ), 2 brand new BJ & BK code Holley carbs (there was some build up in the carbs as I purchased - I assume it sat for awhile - and needed to get the new carbs plus worked on the timing to optimize idle and acceleration), 4 new Primewell tires replaced when odometer was 8,255 with balance/alignment (I am not a fan of these tires. Could not locate Firestone wide ovals in a timely manner) still looks sharp but not ideal.
I do not know the actual mileage. I was told it had 242 miles on the car since the complete nut and bolt remod with fresh 428. The odometer read 6354 when I received it and now reads 9750. Oil change every year with Valvoline VR1 Racing Oil with Zinc. Always put in 100% gasoline with no ethanol. This car has been in a garage since purchased. Has not seen a drop of rain as I will not take it out if there is even a slight chance of rain. In fact these pics are the first time the white power convertible top has been up since I purchased the car. This car purrs like a kitten at idle and roars like a lion with gas. It is a head turning blast to drive. I personally think car styling reached its peak in the late 60s (vettes early 60s) and it will be really hard to be outshown at any car gathering. There will be a definite tear in my eye seeing this go and hope the new owner will take it out once in awhile and show it off.
Terms of Sale - A $4,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours: Balance is due within 3 days. I reserve the right to end the listing early since the car is offered for sale locally. This is an as is, where is car. Please ask questions or stop by to look. I am very confident in the condition but do not want the buyer to have any surprises.
