Decked out in a great looking color and featuring an interior that's been brought to stellar form, this 1966 Ford Mustang is an outstanding representative of the pivotal Ford model that gave rise to its very own automotive classification - the Pony Car. It's powered by a vital, period appropriate small block that anchors a rock solid drivetrain, so this classic also offers a great time from behind the wheel. Clad in an appealing shade of... red, this is a great presentation of the Mustang in its first generation form. The color is a great fit for the model - bright enough to inject plenty of vitality and yet just a shade darker than a lot of the resprays you see on the street. The added black GT-style rocker panel stripes add a bit more distinction and join with an assembly of chrome that's in consistently good condition - judging from its ultra-clean appearance, most of it was likely recently added. With the exception of a set of sharp aftermarket wheels, the car remains in its original configuration and has a nicely fitted appearance - its body alignment is strong, the front grille is table straight and bears an unblemished running horse emblem at its center. In back, the pair of GT style trumpet dual exhaust tips peering out from the rear valance just below the painted taillight panel creates a great look. An aggressively angled stance combines with larger rubber in back to make it seem like this 'Stang is poised and ready to strike. Just inside the doors, a clean interior awaits. It's been skillfully refurbished to its original specifications, down to its factory coloring. Everything inside the doors is in great condition - both the front buckets and rear bench seat are free of any detectable wear, as are the door panels on both sides, and a showroom quality expanse of matching carpet lines the floor, ornamented by a pair of branded floor mats in front. Climb in and take a glance above and you'll see the headliner is in matching condition and still has its snug fit. Beyond the three-spoke woodgrain steering wheel, the set of factory issue gauges sit in a chrome panel that looks awesome against the surrounding red steel and below them, every control knob and switch seems fresh and is securely in place. The trunk area is tidy, too, lined with trademark Ford plaid fabric on the bottom and a full-size spare standing by inside. Under the hood, a 289 cubic inch V8, likely the original engine, resides inside a nicely detailed compartment surrounded by fresh hoses and wiring. It's accented with an array of chrome components, including bracing that merges into matching hardware on the tops of the shock towers. The powerplant was only recently refreshed, at which time it was also enhanced with both an Edelbrock midrise intake manifold, as well as an also-rebuilt Holley 4-barrel carb perched on a 1-inch spacer. Added headers leading out to a dual exhaust make for a commanding exhaust note as the engine pairs with a C4 3-speed transmission to make up a road-ready drivetrain - this classic is very much ready for action right away. Power discs in both front and back provide plenty of fade-resistant stopping ability as it cruises on a set of 15" American Racing Torq Thrust wheels wearing BF Goodrich T/A Radials.
