Car description

1972 Ford f250 3/4 ton 4x4

1972 ford 4x4. Solid project with very very little rust. Runs and drives. Very good project. I bought the truck from the original owner, my stepfather. These old fords are great rigs to restore. Just about everything is available for restoration. Used parts are easy to find too.Below are all the details. Feel free to ask questions. Let me know if you want to do something early on it. I can help with shipping if needed.

MECHANICAL
This pickup has the inline 300 six cylinder. It had a 360 V8 originally but was switched years ago. It runs nice and doesn't smoke. It looks like it has lower mileage but I have not details on it. It has an oil pan gasket leak. It has a single exhaust that needs replaced or repaired. The exhaust leaks at the manifold but it looks like the bolts just need tightened where the exhaust bolts to the manifold. Muffler and tailpipe aren't good either. It's still pretty quiet. It runs smooth, doesn't overheat. Clean oil. No oil in the water or water in the oil. These old six-cylinders are very tough engines. The truck has power brakes and manual steering. They are easy to switch to power steering. The wheels are stock ford with usable tires but they have some weather cracks. Power brakes work. The lights, wipers, and heater work. I haven't tried the radio. 4x4 works. This has the divorced transfer case. Overall, the truck is in very good shape mechanically. I would replace all the fluids and do a basic tuneup. Not that it needs it, but it's good to do them and know when they've been changed. I would recommend the brakes be checked, lube job, etc. The basics checked out.

BODY
The body is very solid for a project. It was painted once, in the original bahama blue color. The tailgate, passenger door, and tailgate were changed sometime after that. The previous owner was planning a restoration that never happened. There is lightfiller in a couple spots. No heavy filler. This truck was painted approximately 20-30 years ago. If it had any heavy filler, it would have cracked by now (montana weather). I also checked the truck over with a digital paint thickness gauge.
It has very little rust but I will detail what it has. I have checked it out thoroughly and if there is a pinhole, I'd put it on this list. There are three small spots of rust. 1. The drivers side rear cab corner has very minor rust. A real easy fix. It's not visible in the pics. The passenger cab corner is fine. 2. The drivers floorpan is just starting to rust where your feet sit. This doesn't need to be fixed either but it's and easy repair and floor patch panels are cheap. 3. The drivers side inner fender has a small amount of rust in front of the hood hinge. This is a common spot to rust on the bumpsides. It's flat metal and easy too repair or use a different inner fender. The rest of the truck is clean. This includes, but is not limited to, the cab, fenders, doors, firewall, floors, floor supports, cab mounts, cab corners, header, hood, roof, box, tailgate, jams, sills, rockers, etc. etc. If your looking to build a 4x4 bumpside, this is a good one.

INTERIOR
The interior is pretty basic in these trucks. No power anything. The pics tell the story. It's easy to add a/c to these trucks with an aftermarket kit. Dash pad is cracked but usable. Same for the headliner. The seat has a seat cover that fits so good I didn't want to loosen it to look at the seat condition. I like the old western seat covers like this but the newer ones are junk. The seat feels good though and no saggy springs. The interior doesn't stink. I haven't tried the radio. Floor mat is the original most likely. Pretty basic interior that hasn't been trashed.

This truck is not a factory built highboy. It was a factory 3/4 ton 2wd. The body was put on an era correct highboy chassis. No power steering and closed knuckle front axle.
