For sale is my 1978 Ford F-250 Ranger Lariat Camper Special 4x4 with 111,000 original miles on it. The truck was purchased new at Bill Pierre Ford in Seattle, Washington on August 29th 1978 and I acquired the Lariat from the orignal owners family earlier this year. The truck is very rare, it is 1 of 151 painted in Wimbledon White and Bright Red and 1 of 31 Lariat's with these paint codes.
Our Lariat was highly optioned from the factory with options including the camper special package, tilt steering, delay wipers, cruise control, bed cargo light, dual fuel tanks, bumper impact strips and the convenience package. All of the mentioned options still work as the did when the truck was new. The factory owners manual, warranty book and owners card with the original owners information comes with the truck.
The heart of this truck is a 400 cubic inch V8 backed by a C6 Automatic transmission and Dana 60 rear axle 3.54 ratio. The truck runs and drives amazing. Truck starts first try every time and I would be comfortable jumping in her and driving cross country. It is hands down on of the best running old trucks I've had. Truck wears a set of 16 inch Ford steel wheels with brand new (receipt available) General Grabber AT/3 285/75R16 tires.
The exterior of our Lariat is in good shape over all. For the most part the body is extremely solid and all the original panels and floors are in great shape. The paint has painta'd as expected with time. The roof / cab shows more paint wear than the rest of the truck due to the fact the an in bed camper certainly was installed at one time. The only major rust is the bottom of both doors show a small hole starting and one small spot at the back of the right bedside. The wheel wells, cab mounts, cab corner, floors and all other common ford truck rust spots are in great shape on this truck. The frame and underside are clean and solid for their age.
The interior was redone with new original color red carpet and seat cover. The original Lariat seat cover had 3 small tears so he had it replaced. I have the original Lariat seat cover that could be fixed and it will go with the truck. The dash pad is still original and crack free. All the gauges and switches work as they should. Slidingrear windowis a nice feature as well.
Overall it is one of the best and unique old Ford trucks I've owned. Many more photos available upon request.
