1978 FORD F-350 SUPER CAMPER SPECIAL -- NO RESERVE!
Look, I get it; you're looking for an old truck because sitting in traffic in your Subaru Forester on the way to your job in a cube seemingly isn't doing it for you or the people you've been mercilessly swiping on. You want a REAL TRUCK — something that runs on beer farts and broken dreams with a radio that only plays Jennings and Williams.
You want to be a stereotype in a commercial because somehow that's better.
*sigh* — ok, um...no, No, NO.
The reality is this is a 41 year-old one ton heavy hauler truck. It's not some frou-frou modern truck that manages to keep you from killing yourself and everyone around you as you drive distracted. You f*ck up and this truck will f*ck up you and everyone else around you.
Ok, glad we've got that settled — on to the truck!
First off, this is a bit of a rare truck. If you want to know more about it, this is a good article:https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/articles/2018/06/20/ford-super-camper-specials-are-rare-unusual-and-still-cheap
MECHANICALThis truck is in excellent mechanical shape — runs, drives, and stops straight and very well. The mildly cammed 400 is backed by a NP435 Transmission and topped off with a Weiand Action +Plus dual-plane intake and an Edelbrock 650 CFM AVS II carburetor. The Duraspark system has been updated with a new module and distributor trigger as part of a tune up that included oil + filter, breather element, air filter, spark plugs + wires, PCV valve, and valve cover gaskets. The exhaust system is new from the manifolds back (including new exhaust manifold gaskets) with Flowmaster 40 series mufflers (true duals done by Muffin Muffler). Rear brakes are completely new (shoes, hardware, wheel cylinders). The correct 9.5 X 16.5 tires are newly installed (USA made, $258 a tire). Both fuel tanks work as they should.
EXTERIORThe truck sported a slide-in camper most of its life, and the exterior was exceptionally well cared for as is evident by the condition of the 100% original paint. Yes, it has various scratches and dings, but for a truck of this age it is exceptional (see detailed pictures). No major dents or rust anywhere on the truck.
INTERIORAlso 100% original, the interior is very nearly as flawless as you will find on a truck of this era. There is one small superficial vinyl crack on the driver's side of the lower bench (see photos). The dash is crack free, the carpet and floor mats are excellent without even a hint of fading. Door panels are crack free, rubber/felt seals are soft and fully intact (even around the windows). Everything works (even the CB).
