Car description |
---|
1972 Ranchero GT, matching #'s Q code 351C 4V Cobra Jet, C6 automatic transmission and 9 inch rearend with 3.00 gears. Power Steering, power disc brakes, factory tach and gauges with factory tow package. Originally Dark Green but was paintedgray long ago. It has the hard to find and valuable full wheel well trim.
The body on this Ranchero is overall very straight and solid. The paint is old and faded with plenty of chips and scratches etc. If you wanted to put the effort in you could get it cleaned up by waxing and touching up to get it more presentablebut it still would ultimately needs paint. It does not appear that it has ever been in any kind of serious accident with no evidence of previous repairs. There is a small dent on the left bed near the gas cap. The floors look very good with no visible rustholes. There is surface rust around one of the seat bolts. There is some minor rust starting in the lower quarters behind each wheel, some in the right front fender and in the door corners. There is rust inside the bed above the wheel well on the passengerside, a small amount above the driver's side wheel well and a couple spots in the bed floors. There is surface rust in the compartment behind the seat but it looks solid. It had a vinyl top but it was removed some time ago and the top looks good. Bumpers andtrim are straight, chrome on back bumper is peeling. Grill and grill surround look nice. Doors open and shut well. Glass is good. Wheels are 15x7 steelies and tires are old and will need replacement before driving very far. Wheel well trim is in good shape. Alsohas very rare protecto top bed cover. Bed cover is missing the spring brackets but those would be easy to make.
The interior is in good condition. The original seat was recovered in gray cloth and looks nice. Headliner is nice with no apparent rips, dash has a cap on it and looks good. Door panels are very nice and have aftermarket speakers, armrests have been recovered to match seat. The carpet is original and is starting to fade. Gauges all work including factory tach. Lights, signals, wipers and heater all work.
The 351 Cobra Jet has no smoke, knocks or valve train noise. It has good oil pressure cold and warm. It is the original matching #'s engine with vin stamped in the back of the block. It has the original 4V heads and exhaust manifolds. Ithas an Edelbrock intake, new Holley carb and nice aluminum valve covers. It has good compression of about 145 psi with variation of less than 5 psi between all cylinders. It has been sitting a while and could probably use a tune up but it seems to be a verygood engine. Transmission works well. It has a nice sounding dual exhaust that isn't too loud. There is a slight leak at one of the manifolds. It could be driven as is but some regular maintenance would be advised before going any long distances.
Overall this is a very solid, well optioned and matching numbers Ranchero GT. A great factory Dark Green Metallic color and a Q code 351CJ make for a great combination in this one year only body style. Drive it as is or return it to itsoriginal color, put some wheels on it and have a very nice car. These 72's have increased in value quite a bit and this one is priced where you can finish it and still be into it for less than you could buy one that has already been restored.
International buyers are welcome. Car is sold as is where is with no warranty expressed or implied. It is available for inspection by appointment only. I have done my best to describe it accurately but please understand that this is a 47year old car that is not new and has not been restored. I have sold quite a few cars on ebay and try very hard to describe them accurately and to make sure potential buyers have any information I would want as a buyer. In fairness to all bidders I will notdisclose the reserve. I reserve the right to end the auction at any time, however, my intention is to let the auction run its course unless someone hits the buy-it-now. Reserve is less than buy it now but everybody wants to know what it will take to end theauction so I put a buy it now on there to avoid that question and if this car is exactly what you want and you don't want to risk losing it then you have an option. Please make sure you have funds available and have gotten permission from your wife, mom orwhomever you need permission from before bidding. Full payment must be made within 5 days of auction end and vehicle must be picked up within 21 days of auction end unless prior arrangements are made. Payment by cash or wire transfer only. Shipping is theresponsibility of the buyer but I will help however I can. Bidders with a feedback rating of less than 10 must contact me prior to bidding or I will cancel your bid.
