This rare find is up for grabs...a numbers matching 1964 1/2 Mustang convertible F-code (V8 260) with a build date of March 18th, 1964...that's only 9 days after the first Mustang rolled off the assembly line. This dream car has less than 200 miles after a complete ground-up restoration. It's a local Gold Class concours-level car but with a minor tweaks is could be a national contender. It has factory a/c (rare for early convertibles), power top and power steering. The a/c compressor may need a rebuild but it's the date-correct compressor.
I have a Marti Auto Works window sticker for the car along with hundreds of pics taken to document the restoration. This car was pain-painstakingly restored to factory original...with all the imperfections one would have noticed back in 1964 as they rolled off the assembly line (e.g. has overspray inside the fenders and the corners are not shaved to fit perfectly like the restomods, etc...). In other words, it's "not over-restored" and the engine compartment is not covered with every sticker Ford produced, lol. The date-correct engine was built (blue-printed) by Blue Monkey Performance in AZ and runs great. It has a mild cam but I chose to stick with the original style single exhaust and 2BBL carb therefore the additional horsepower is somewhat restricted. I did upgrade the radiator and install a new transmission but have the correct original parts to go with it including an original fan shroud. The car also comes with both the 289 style and Falcon style air cleaners since there seems to be some controversy over which style came on the earliest Mustangs. You can rest assured no expense was spared on this beauty as evidenced by the near-perfect NOS chariot-style spoke wheel covers with the Corporate Ford logo center caps. These hubcaps only came with the earliest Mustangs produced. It's also my understanding they were banned early-on for safety reasons (stuck out too far). Some unique floormats are also included (sets of four were only given to the first few buyers of Mustangs as a dealership promotional item). These rubber mats do not have the Pony logo like the aftermarket ones.
So don't miss out! Mustangs like this one do not come along very often...with a low VIN sequence number (#1908) and a March 18, 1964 build date, this has to be one of the very first Mustang convertibles to ever roll off the assembly line. It's a great investment...the value of this car will only go up. I'd keep it if I didn't need the money for my kids' college.
