Car description |
---|
Up for sale is my 64.5 D code Mustang. I pulled this out of a chicken coop a couple of years ago, with the intentions to restore it, or at least make it a driver. I have too many cars at the moment, and my lift is currently occupied with another long term project, which I also need room for. So this has to be sold.
Some info on it
From the DATA Plate
1964.5Born in Dearborn MI2 Door289 4VRangoon Red W/White Crinkle and Red Appointments
Built on MAY 8TH 1964Sold in Chicago3.00:1 Rear Diff4 Speed Manual
VIN 5F07D30224
Has original generator, an old GULF battery, louvered radiator support, sharp edged hood, looks like original Washer bag...
Here is the story on this coupe. It was owned in the 60's by a couple of Georgia Boys, Brothers, who were stationed in California during the war. They raced the car in SCCA, and Local drags. At the end of their Service they welded on two tow points that you can see in the pics, and toted the car back here to Georgia.
In 1972, they sold it to The gentleman I bought it from. He drove it until 1978, and then parked it in the chicken coop, where it stayed until I pulled it out a couple years ago. I asked him why he parked it and this was his reply.
"I got beat by a fella I didn't care for, so I drove it here, got out, Left the key in it, and the cokes I had bought, went right out and bought me a big block Chevelle. Its been sittin here since."
I really enjoyed that story. The 6 pack of vintage coke bottles will go with the car... : )
So I made a deal, pulled it out of that chicken coop, and took it home.
You will need to replace the right from drum, as it was seized up, and we beat on it til it gave so I could load it on my Ramp truck.
It will come with the roller wheels and tires, AS WELL as the mags I bought it with, which still have the Bias ply wide tires.
At some point the brothers replaced the original 289 with another, the engine date code is in one of the pics....I have a December 63 289 That ran great, That I pulled from my 64 Galaxie, that I was going to put in this mustang, to be period correct, But I need to let the Mustang go.
It has the original key, which I pulled from the ignition where it had stayed since 78, the part of the kay that stuck out of the switch is tarnished, and the part of the key that was in the switch is shiny. Pretty cool.
The floor boards and rockers, as you can see in the pics are very solid, some areas on the lower qtrs have rust. The PO told me somewhere in there is a trunk Key, I haven't searched, NOR have I opened the trunk...so a surprise awaits im sure...probably something very cool...
I really dig the original stuff on this car, and I think that GULF battery is just awesome. A real time capsule, at least to me....
This car is the kind of stuff I always read about someone else finding. I will answer any questions I can, but for the entire Auction I will be travelling. I will get back on text immediately or you can ring me.
Good luck on the auction, I hope this car goes to a deserving home.
I have the Title from the PO I just havent found it yet. I will continue to look for it, I did NOT turn it into to the DMV nor did I register it. Georgia Will Keep the title on a car this old, so the new owner of this car will be the 3rd owner, from I can tell. If I cannot locate the title, Ill be disgusted, but I will sell the car on bill of sale, which is what we do here in GA anyway.
