The Skyliner was offered for 3 years with ’59 being the last. It was the only hard Top Convertible Offered. It was a true work of art to see the top fold up and go into the trunk. There were only 12. 00 of these cars built in ’59. The one we have for you is a really beauty and mostly the way it was ’59 with only a few upgrades. In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior. interior. and driveline of the Ford. but first we would like to tell you a little about us. Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned. operated. and own our entire inventory. no consignments. and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. When walking around this ride you will see an arrow straight body with great lines. All the stainless looks good with good fit. It looks to have had new bumpers at some point. All the glass and window trim looks good with the side glass being power. When you look at the paint it’s done in the factory Colonial White and Indian Turquoise two tone paint scheme. The paint on this car looks very good with a deep rich shine. When you look in the jams and under the hood it all looks correct. A set of Chrome Reverse Wheels and a new set of tires complete the look. Next. we will take a look at the interior of the Convertible. On the inside of the ’59 it’s done in the stock style with a bench seat that is power. It’s a custom job with the seats being vinyl with the cloth inserts. When the interior was done they did it with all new carpet and panels. It has the padded dash and also factory select A/C. The radio is what they called a town & country. Finally. we will take a look at the driveline of the Ford. Under the hood it has the 332 CI Thunderbird Special V8 with a Cruise o Matic Trans and a 2. 91 Rear End. It has Factory Power Steering and Power Brakes. The exhaust was upgraded to a set of Magna Flow Duals. At the time of the resto the engine was rebuilt. The charging system was also changed to an alternator from the stock generator. The floors and frame looks to be in very good shape with no visible issues.
