Car description |
---|
Submitted for your consideration is this female-owned retired military Colonel who has a car collection of beautiful cars and this is no exception. This vehicle was purchased fully restored in December of 2016 and enjoyed for the pleasure it is.Owner is selling off car collection to downsize so this is a reluctant sale.Be sure to see my "Other Auctions" for her cars to give you a sense of the beautiful machines she owns and is for sale. The first year of the so-called “Flair or Square Birds”
Highly desired color combo of white exterior and red interior
Recent recipient of a professional restoration
390 CID V-8 engine
Cruise-O-Matic three-speed automatic transmission and 3.00:1 gearing
New black, power-folding top
New White exterior with a new black, power folding top and red interior
Swing-away steering wheel
Wire wheels
Undercarriage is clean and unremarkable
EXTERIOR: Vehicle is bright white and restored with 2-stage urethane base/clear for a high quality finish.Literal 10 out of 10 for it's quality throughout. No paint imperfections evident. The only panel alignment issue is where right passenger door meets quarter where lower end doesn't line up. This is likely adjustable for better fitment with no major expense.Top is in near perfect shape with vivid clear plastic back window. All bright work is excellent and looks new in appearance. No signs of any rust or collision history evident. All glass is excellent. Works as it should.
INTERIOR: Interior is near perfect bright red. No bolster wear. No carpet wear. No splits in dash pad.Headliner of convertible top is mint. Everything works as it should.I suspect the odometer mileage is over the mechanical limits (?)--------but not indicated on title.
MECHANICALS: This is a non-AC car. At the time of photos, the car started fine, backed it out for photos and stalled. It seemed to have a fuel or spark issue to stay running. We have this scheduled into a concours restorer in the area to remedy what should be a maintenance-type low cost fix. If by chance this is not accomplished by end of this auction, we will concede $300.00 off the final bid price. We'll have paperwork to assure what was or was not done etc.No unusuals sounds or odors. Ran great on start-up, stumbled a bit, then stalled. Seemd to be a spark or fuel issue (should be an inexpensive remedy)Suspension looks as it should. No leaking fluids beneath etc.
Vehicle was appraised between $33-39k and is priced accordingly. Values for the comps go as high as $50k for these exceptional collector quality restored cars. Cannot be reproduced to this level for its purchase price~Any documentation that came with car to remain with car.Top works fine.Total 1964 sales were excellent: 92,465, up nearly 50 percent from the previous year. The 1964 Thunderbird was the only car to have the word 'Thunderbird' spelled out on the front hood instead of a chrome Thunderbird emblem. The only transmission available was the Cruise-O-Matic MX three-speed automatic.
Additional Photos available upon request. I'm offering a Buy it now Option on this stunning example. Don't lose it to a big block auction where buyer fees and transportation costs apply! Please direct any/all questions to Chris 615.979.3058
