Car description

This 1966 Ford Mustang convertible is the car you've been looking for. Beautifully restored with a smooth 289 under the hood and a timeless color combination, it's exactly the car everyone thinks of when they imagine an early Mustang. Professionally built, it's very correct but features a few invisible upgrades that make it especially entertaining to drive.
Bright red remains one of the most popular colors for sporty Mustangs, and it's easy to see why. It's bold, sophisticated, and classic, the perfect choice for a Mustang convertible. This one also benefits from clean, straight sheetmetal and zero paint issues thanks to the pros at House of Hot Rods. The finish is shiny, and the entire package fits together well, so the doors open and close easily and the hood lines up as it should, and you know a lot of money was spent to get it here. Both front and rear bumpers have been restored, and the stainless trim has been buffed and show shows a fantastic shine against the brilliant red paint. Although it was originally a 6-cylinder car, correct '289' emblems were added on the front fenders, but you can hardly call that cheating because everything else on the car is correct for a V8 as well. You want to get noticed, this Mustang is a great way to do it.
The black bucket seat interior is beautifully done, giving you a good idea of how clean this car is. Almost everything inside has been restored, such as the seat covers, door panels, and carpets, and the handsome black upholstery contrasts brilliantly with the sizzling red paint. We love the sophisticated effect of basic black in a Mustang, which prevents it from being red overload, it's quite correct throughout, from the gauges to the shifter on the floor. Original-style A/C lives under the dash in the usual location, but now uses modern hardware to make it reliable. There's also a newer AM/FM/cassette stereo head unit with iPod input hidden out of sight in the glove box. Overhead, there's a brand new black convertible top with clear rear window and it stows under a black boot, so the clean lines of the convertible aren't interrupted.
This was originally a T-code Mustang, so it has obviously been upgraded to a proper 289 cubic inch V8. Rated at 225 horsepower in the standard Mustang, this one sports a few upgrades to make it a bit more potent, including a big Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor, a mild camshaft that idles great, and a giant aluminum radiator with electric fan. It's a reliable, fun powerplant that moves the little Mustang eagerly with great V8 sounds, and with only 500 miles on the build, it's incredibly fresh. The engine bay is nicely detailed with Ford Blue paint, some great-looking finned valve covers, and a chrome open-element air cleaner up top. It's also got power front disc brakes, which are always welcome on a V8 Mustang, as well as a fresh Flowmaster dual exhaust system that sounds spectacular. Underneath, the chassis is extremely clean and tidy, offering a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and an 8-inch rear end hanging on fresh shocks. Color-matched steel wheels with spinner hubcaps are a great Mustang look and carry unassuming 195/75/14 whitewall radials that make this little ragtop a bit of a sleeper.
Admit it, when you close your eyes and dream of your ideal Mustang, this is what you see. Give us a call today!
