Car description

Very rough, very rare. I believe this to be a 1942 Ford convertible. There were only 2920 of these built before the war closed down production. It is similar to the yellow convertible featured in the movie the Karate Kid which I think was a 46-48 model. It is not restorable but would make a great lead sled or rat rod if you have the skills. The body is sitting on a 1948 frame that has had a Camaro front and rear end welded in. I am also including a 1948 parts car which has an original frame but it is badly rusted. I have the original frame that came with the body but it was rusted through so we cut it up to get the body off but we kept the pieces. The upper body is solid but pitted. The lower body is rusted but patch panels are available from several manufacturers. There is no floor. The doors are frozen part way open by rust. I have three very good fenders and one good fender (shown in the picture), plus several extra rusty fenders. I have a very good trunk lid shown separately, the original hood and several 46-48 hoods that could provide patch pieces. I have three NOS grille inserts (they are interchangeable side for side) and extra parking light frames. I think I have all the trim pieces. I have the convertible top parts from the 1948 parts car but they are frozen up with rust and would have to be heated to free them up. The 1948 parts car can provide bumpers, partial flooring, the top of the windshield frame, running gear including a 1936 Lincoln Zephyr transmission, cowl parts, etc. The engine in the parts car is no good as are the springs. I have other miscellaneous parts for window trim and door handles. Also included will be four newly painted (red) Chevy steel wheels and some roller tires that can be mounted on them. I am sure you will have many questions so please feel free to contact me. I brought the cars up from a private yard in southern Illinois with the intention of building a lead sled, but ill health has slowed my plans. There is no salvage title, I just had to fill in the blank during the listing process. The titles were destroyed in a fire at the yard many years ago, but I can provide a clear bill of sale and request that the sale be cash only, no cashier's checks.I know it is possible to purchase titles for this kind of car and have heard of one that is available. I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime as the car is for sale locally as well. I will be happy to provide more pictures on request and will call you on the phone if you send me your number. As I said before, it is very rough and very rare, but reasonably complete. I liked it and had great plans for it.
