Offered at NO RESERVE is a three-owner 73,000 original mile, rust free survivor 1977 Ford F250 Highboy. Documentsincluded with saleare the original owner's manual, Marti report and the original paper dealer plates! Being only one of eight produced in this color (coral and raven black) and one of three in this color and trim package as well as the super low miles, this Highboy is truly a unique find!
I purchased the Highboy a year or so ago from a friend of mine in Helena, Montana. He found the truck in a storage facility where the original owner's daughter had retired it a couple of years earlier. After a lengthy negotiation, my buddy was able to purchase the truck. When I saw photos I knew it was a must have for my collection!
The truck sold new at Kendall Ford in Eugene, Oregon on November 27, 1976 and lived a pampered life with the original owner until he fell ill and passed the truck on to his daughter. With no need for the truck but also no desire to sell it she tucked it away in Helena, Montana where my friend saw it and eventually ended up purchasing it.
Survivor, Barn Find and time capsule are terms that are used over and over here on EBAY often times on less than deserving rigs. This Highboy is the real deal. It is amazingly clean and original for a vehicle of this age. Over the last 25 years my hobby of collecting and restoring muscle cars has expanded to vintage 4x4s. It is getting increasingly difficult to find unmolested, original 4x4s that have not been abused. When I see something unique, well cared for and original I buy and enjoy it! That is exactly how this truck ended up in my collection. Unfortunately, from time to time I have to downsize the herd and that time is now. Some lucky EBAYER is going to end up with a really nice 1977 Ford F-250 Highboy!
Exterior:Mostly original paint with good shine that really pops. Normal scratches and chips from use.The only area showing any sign of repaint is the back corner of the box on the passenger's side.Straight, accident free and rust free as shown in pics! Unlike most of theHighboysscreaming"rust free" in all caps in Ebay ads, this one actually is. There are a couple thin spots in the paint (rockers behind both front fenders, lower section of both doors just above rockers and same area on the box just above rockers, and one spot on the hood). I have a quart of coral paint to touch them up BUT the patina is so cool I decided to leave it - it adds to the survivormystique!Glass is all in good condition. Wheels are aftermarket and innice shape. Tires are BF Goodrich Wrangler Rugged Trail TAs with decent tread. There is light surface rust bottom of the box but no rot.
Interior: Except for the carpet and seat cover, all original and in excellent condition. Really fresh and seems new when you climb into the vehicle. I haven't seen an interior this clean in many, many years. Very nice, and none of the typical moisture damage or pitting. No rodent damage or smells. All gauges work but the oil pressure and temp gauge often read low (I have had the oil pressure checked manually and it is in the 30s at idle and the 60s off idle), all lights are working, and aftermarket AM/FM works. All stock save for previously mentioned AM/FM. Pretty much perfect save the small tear in the 4x4 shifter boot.Really, super, super nice.
Mechanical:Very goodmechanical condition. This truck was never abused, 4-wheeled, or mudded. Very well maintained its entire life. and after a short term slumber the truck received the following work:
New carburetor and manifold (original included)
New exhaust
All fluids replaced.
The truck is very original with only a few minor modifications. The wheels and tires, an aftermarket carb and intake. and the new dual exhaust. The 351 V8 is strong and starts, runs, and drives out well. Trans is smooth and 4x4 works great. Unlike mostold 4x4s the truck has only one minor oil leak which appears to be coming from the front of the transfer case (when parked at just the right angle) - Bone dry everywhere else! I've been driving it and it really is smooth, tight, and nice. This Highboy is just a great, honest 73,000 original mile rig!
If you are in the market for a Highboy this is one to be considered. And with this rare color combo, low miles and exceptional lifelong care this Highboy is the one to have! Remember, THEY ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE!!!!!!
Finding a Highboy in original condition, low miles and unmolested like this 1977 does not happen everyday! Take it to cruise night or Saturday morning coffee or tuck it away at that special mountain retreat in Stowe, Mammoth, Steamboat Springs or Jackson Hole. Wherever you have it or whenever you drive it get ready for lots of thumbs up and gas pump conversation! Don't let this one slip away!
