Car description |

The first time on the market since being sold new, this amazing "one owner" 1969 Mustang Mach1 Super Cobra Jet is essentially an untouched survivor with the exception of the 428 motor which was removed and fully rebuilt last year in preparation of getting the car back on the road. Having been placed in storage in 1979 everything on the car is completely original. This car was special ordered by Casco Motors in Yarmouth ME in November of 1968 to the buyers specifications with the 428 SCJ, drag pack, close ration 4 speed, 3.91 Traction-loc differential, Sport deck rear seat, Power front disc brakes and a few other items like the AM/8 track stereo, tinted glass, and F70x14 Traction tires with raised white letters. (see Marti report below for production figures) The current owners parents took delivery of the car on January 30th 1969 and enjoyed it for 10 years before placing it in long term storage in December of 1979. At that point there were some rust issues developing in the typical areas of the trunk floor and the front shock towers so it was decided to store the car rather then trade it in or sell it.
Initially the owners intention was to perform a mechanical and engine compartment restoration as well as careful underside rust repair and put the car back on the road with the original interior and paint just as it is. All of the paint is original with the exception of the right front fender which was re-painted when another color paint was accidentally splashed onto it. It is believed that under the re-painted surface may be the original paint in good condition and may potentially be uncovered.
The transmission was removed but has not been touched other then being carefully cleaned and still retains all the factory markings. The wheels are all original and still wear some vintage Parnelli Jones tires. The spare wheel is also original and still has the factory Goodyear Polyglass tire mounted. Hub caps are original and show Ford factory numbering on the inside.
The 428 motor was rebuild with a great deal of attention given to insure that all of the original 428 parts, tags and hardware from this motor were retained. The block was cleaned, cylinders bored .030 over, both main and rod journals on the crankshaft were machined to .010 under. Block was line bored and fully balanced. The block, connecting rods, crankshaft, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, and heads are all original to the car. The original oil cooler adaptor was repaired in the 1970's so a correct replacement was purchased. Additionally the factory original Holley C9AF-9510M four barrel carburetor has been professionally rebuilt to a show finish. The original radiator has been re-cored but still retains the end tanks and factory stamped numbered side plates. The car also has the original ram-air scoop and air cleaner assembly now restored and ready to be fit. Again, authenticity was paramount in the work that has been performed so far.
New engine build parts include:* Sealed Power .030 over pistons and rings* Stock Sealed Power 428 cam (CS642)* Lifters, valves, guides & seats* Clevite rod, main, and cam bearings* Mellings oil pump, timing chain & gears
Included in the sale are the original Bill of Sale from the dealer, a Marti Report, a complete set of First issue 1969 Ford published Mustang work shop manuals purchased by the owner shortly after buying the car.Being reluctantly offered for sale, this genuine time machine is "the real deal" and the owner really wants it to go to someone who will appreciate it.
