Car description

Survivor1969 Mustang Mach1 Super Cobra Jet.W-Code 4.30 axle. R-code ram air shaker. R build San Jose car. 62K original miles. This original paint Candy Apple red, original black interior, 4-speed car is the top of the food chain for 1969 Cobra Jet Mustangs. Some would say “the Holy Grail”.

I am the 3rd owner and purchased the car in 2005 from California where it spent its entire life prior to my purchase. Always garaged and only occasionally driven since. This is a well sorted, everything works, needs nothing time capsule of one of the greatest muscle cars of the era.

The top and a portion of the hood had been metal-flaked by the original owner. These panels have been sympathetically repainted to remove the metal-flake yet retain the patina of the car. There is absolutely no rust anywhere and never has been. All of the glass is original except the windshield which has been replaced with a correctly Carlite etched and date coded reproduction.

The interior is all original. Everything works – tach, clock, radio, gauges.

The underside of the car has never been cleaned or detailed and is as it left the factory. Remnants of the paper axle tag remain. The original differential paint markings and tag are present. The original 4-speed shifter, transmission paint markings and tag are in place. The transmission is original to the car and is VIN stamped.

The engine block was replaced at Foulger Ford early in the life of the car with a May, 1970 dated block. All of the other engine components were transferred to the new block at that time. The engine is now rebuilt using a correctly date coded 428 CJ block and all of the original date coded parts – cylinder heads, intake, carburetor & distributor. Dyno tested at 375 HP, 425 TQ with stock exhaust manifolds and functioning smog equipment.
