Car description

"Big Brown"1972 Ford F-250 4x4 Highboy- Old Idaho Ranch and Farm Truck -- ex. Highway Department -
--Sold as-is, non-running--
This old behemoth just found it's way to our line-up of 67-72 Ford trucks. It's very unique, and was set-up for ranch work here in southwest Idaho. Originally used for Govt. work on the highway, I believe it was ordered for such. The previous owner installed a '72 era Ford 460 Big Block, Clark Heavy Duty 5-speed w/ overdrive truck transmission, and 1980 Ford 1-ton Dana 70 Narrow Dually Rear end. 4.10 Gears. He used the beast to feed hay at his ranch, and pull a goose neck horse trailer.
It was driven regularly up until a couple years ago. The owner purchased a newer Super Duty, and parked Big Brown.
Overall condition is .. well.. It's a ranch truck. Exhibits a lot of character. Some rust in the front fenders as photographed, but that's the worst of it. Cab mounts and floors are solid / no rust holes. Doors and hood are decent. Cab 50/50. Has some denting on top of the passenger side. Currently riding on 4 decent used 16.5" tires with factory style one piece steel rims.
For what it's worth, here's the VIN:
Wheelbase: 131"
Color: Unspecified. Would be special order in the DSO Number. Does wear original Tan/Beige.Model: F-262Interior: Black/ParchmentOriginal Transmission: New Process 435. (now Clark 5-speed w/OD)Real Axle:Locking Dana 60 w/ 4.10 gears (now Dana 70 w/ 4.10 open)GVW: 7,700lbD.S.O.: Special order 721603
This old truck has a lot of potential. It is a factory High Rider (Highboy) truck. Retains original frame and suspension. Please understand that your bid is for the non-op truck as is, hence the low price with no-reserve. We literally haven'tdone anything to this truck yet. I would love for you to take this in your own direction. With that said, we'd also be very happy to take it one of several directions on your behalf. It's biggest immediate flaw is that it's been unused and sitting for the last couple years. So all things considered, here's some options;
1.) We'll get her serviced to the point of starting and driving under it's own power, enough to drive it onto a trailer. Additional $400 over high bid.
-or-
2.) We'll meticulously comb over all the mechanical items, and bring this back to daily driver status. Road worthy, with everything working. No major improvements, just servicing and maintaining what's there currently, and getting it back to a driving truck. Additional $1,000 over high bid.
-or-
3.) We can start into this platform as a full-blown project. There's so many directions that this truck could go. We're very flexible. Full body swap, major restoration? Minor TLC? What do you envision for this relic? It's ready to support the narrow set dual rear wheels, which would be a big step forward! The flat-bed is custom made, but actually pretty decent quality. It would be re-floored with new lumber? Maybe you have a dream truck in mind, and this could serve as the base chassis to begin a super build? Let's discuss it! Feel free to contact us! We could easily pencil out a game-plan, and make this old ranch truck into something really special.
