This radical 1951 Ford Victoria Custom was built by George Barris. This 2 door hardtop was sectioned 5 inches, additionally he pancaked the hood, crowned the front fenders, installed dual spots, customized the grill, installed a fabricated grill bar, shaved the door handles, installed 1948 Lincoln door pushes, frenched the tail lights and customized the trunk lid with a molded in continental kit. The corners of the hood and trunk lid were rounded and Desoto bumpers were used front and rear, with the rear bumper notched for the license plate. The hood and trunk lid have hidden releases and skirts were installed.
In 1988 Art Maimbourg acquired the car. Dual antennas and 1956 Chrysler headlight bezels were added. Additionally, he cut down the steering wheel to 14 inches, he chromed the steering column and removed the top, added a removable Carson style top and chopped the windshield to match. Art also changed the taillights to resemble a Kaiser. Art painted the car its current color and had it pin stripped by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth. Roth did this in 1989 and signed his work.
Since then it has had vintage air added using a 1956 Cadilllac underdash unit to maintain the correct look. The car remains in incredible condition with the refreshed flathead, Edelbrock 4 barrel intake and Fenton headers with dual exhausts. When George saw the car in Pomona he verified he did build it and signed the dash. The car appears in Barris's book and was in a 1953 Life magazine article featuring "the King of the Customizers" George Barris.
