Car description

Finished in Vintage Burgundy over a black interior, this 1965 Mustang K code Fastback was a meticulous rotisserie restoration over the course of 13 years. Originally built in San Jose for the Seattle market, the K code has only been owned in Washington and Arizona. The car is listed in the HiPo Mustang registry and is ready to drive or show. The restoration is fully documented with a fat stack of receipts and over 500 build pics.

The Mustang is a very high end restoration and features a body that was stripped down to bare metal prior to paint. Fitment of the metal is as nice or nicer than factory. The doors, hood and trunk align properly and even the usually ill fitting headlight and taillight buckets fit well. The paint and bodywork are as nice as you'll find anywhere. The panels are very straight and were properly long blocked prior to application of paint. It was $15,000 for just the paintwork and the finish is impressive. The paint is a two stage job and features a wet sanded clear coat that results in a texture free, high gloss finish. The undercarriage has all of the correct factory spot welds along the rockers and is finished the correct red oxide primer. Both VIN numbers are present on the inner aprons and the VIN usually hidden by the passenger side fender is pictured in the build pics.

The car features the matching numbers engine and matching numbers transmission. The engine numbers and date codes are detailed at the end of the build pics as well and the before/after stages of the rebuild. The 9" axle housing is correct for 1965 and houses 3.50 gears. The original tranny is secured to a small pallet and comes with the car. The upgraded transmission is a brand new Ford Motorsport T-5 overdrive unit with a Centerforce clutch.

The engine compartment itself is a highly detailed thing of beauty. You'll find all correct lines, hoses, clamps and beautiful finishes throughout. The engine is adorned with the factory K code dress up kit and uses the HiPo fan assembly. The motor exhales through a set of correct exhaust manifolds and flows out the back through an Arvinode 2" exhaust system with a HiPo H-pipe. The car uses a Pertronix ignition which could always be reverted to a points set up, but is of course much more reliable than stock.

Everything in the suspension system has been completely rebuilt and features all new steering components, rebuilt control arms, new springs, all new bushings, tie rods, sway bar bushings etc... The car is set up with KYB shocks and the ride is nice and tight. The master cylinder has been upgraded with a Baer dual bowl unit and the front calipers are restored stock units equipped with drilled and slotted rotors.

The entire interior is new from top to bottom including all of the soft parts, and hard trim items. All of the wiring on the car is brand new and all of the under dash components have been properly restored. The interior features restored Mustang seat belts, all new bezels, a rebuilt steering column, totally restored gauges and a Scott Drake Rally Pac. Prior to installation of the components, the interior was Dynamatted from front to rear.

Although the car stayed very true to form is most areas, certain items were upgraded for safety and convenience purposes. These included a new Ford Motorsports T5 transmission, Baer dual bowl master cylinder, drilled and slotted zinc coated front disc brakes, Pertronix III controller and coil, Centerforce clutch and plate, and Holley 570 CFM carb.

For the Mustang enthusiast looking for a meticulously restored K code, we haven't seen one this nice pop up in a while.
