Car description

Here is a great example of a 1983 4-Eyed GT Hatch for sale.
The time has come to part ways with this beast. I have enjoyed this car a lot, and it gets looks everywhere it goes. The guy I bought the car from was a Ford mechanic and rebuilt almost everything. He built it for the strip and the street… So it's pretty fast. Only a few Thousand miles on this rebuild. It's the original block, but all kinds of aftermarket parts. It used to be a five speed, was converted to automatic at the same time as the rebuild. The odometer says something around 76,000 miles, but shortly after I bought the car, the speedometer quit working. It runs and drive as it sits now quite nicely. It is super fun!
Here is a pretty long list of mods/aftermarket parts:-Exterior Plast-Dip paint job with tinted markers and new emblems all around the car.-Cooling fan delete.-Reverse flow water pump.-Gm HEI ignition.-289 cobra jet heads with edelbrock high rise 289 intake and 1 inch additional riser.-650 edelbrock mechanical four barrel carb.-1.60 to one comp cams roller rockers.-cobra aluminum valve covers w/ hand tightened t studs.-.180 over dome hypereutectic silicone impermeated-.030 over bore pistons.-Forged i beam connecting rods.-Forged crankshaft.-8 quart deep sump oil pan.-High flow oil pump.-Custom headers to dual 3 inch cutouts to dual 40 series flow master mufflers with turn downs in front of rear axle.-TCI racing c4 trans with b&m slick shift kit.-Deep sump b&m trans pan.-4:11 final gear set with mechanical locking rear differential in ford 8.8 rear end.-Factory ladder bars.-Comes with mickey thompson slicks - street radials.-Nice black racing seats, floor mats and steering wheel.-New black rear seat cover-New door speakers (not pictured) and new stereo (still new in box not pictured).
I'm likely forgetting something!! :)
Alright, so whats the catch with this awesome car? Here is a list of what the car still needs:- Clutch pedal is still in car.- No radio, but I have a new in box radio that needs installed.- No center console. Was going to build something custom, just haven't.- Needs new speedometer (and odometers but it is built into speedo). I'm wondering if it's the speedo cable though... Could be an easy fix.- Drive line might need re- balancing, vibrates until car is warm.- could use new (or used) front tires, they seem a little too wide. Hasn't really bothered me, but I have a second set of front narrower tires on separate wheels that I'll throw in.- no sun visors. Not sure why, they were gone when I bought car. Headliner is a little loose in spots because they are gone, but again, easy fix.- Blue exterior could use another couple coats. The blue Pasti-Dip has been discontinued so it has to be ordered online. I bought everything I could locally. 5-6 cans should be enough. See pics, but it is a little blotchy in certain lighting.- Driver door glass seems to be slightly off track. While driving, it slowly rolls itself down, so I'm using a Bungie-cord around then window crank to keep it up. Could be as simple as taking door panel off and re-aligning.- The body is straight but has a few flaws.
As you can see, it's nothing real major. The car runs and drives strong, and is a real beast. I mentioned all of the build list up above - there are thousands of dollars in parts, not to mention the labor that would have gone in. It's a fun car that looks pretty good. People always point and wave, it's a people pleaser. When it's running, the low rumble gets everyone's attention. People always ask what motor it's got and stuff... Very fun car. With all that said, you're looking at a few hundred bucks at most if you chose to fix and take care of everything. Otherwise, enjoy the car as is it!
