Car description |

Up for sale is an all steel Late1931 Ford Model A Cabriolet, his is a slant windshield "C" type. I have read that less than 6000 of these were produced out of the 4.5 million model A's that Ford produced. Pretty rare. This car came from the estate of a local car hobbyist. He had several oldcars that were all steel. I am listing this car fora friend who was fortunate enough to purchasethem. His number is listed below and I recommend that you call him with questions. His name is Paul. The car was brought to me to charge the battery and bleed the brakes as it had beensitting for a few years. I found a 2013 car show flier in the door pocket. My observations are as follows: Car came right back to life. I have driven it about 20 miles. It is roadworthy and drives as a 1931 should which is bumpy and fun with rattles. Suspension is factory style transverse leaf front and rear.. Shifts fine. Stops fine. Lights work. The build looks like a later model flatheaddonor was used for the engine, ransmission and rear end. I am not certain. The wiring is modern fuse type from someone like Painless etc. The late owner added some wiring for things likethe horn which is crude at best. This can be cleaned up made presentable with little effort. The gauges are modern from Dolphin. Gas tank andbattery wererelocated to the former rumble seat area. It is now a trunk. The uglytank is from a modern car and I think a streetrod type should be installed to clean up the look. Gas is old but it still burns. Body is all steel and solid. The paint will come back to life with a light buff and wax. This is a very nostalgic hotrod that isnot far from being great. It needs someone with the care and talent to finish all the little details. Model A's are not hard to come by. However, ate 31 cabriolets are hard to find. And the fact that it has a flathead is great. The purist will not agree I'm sure but they will agree to this cars rarity. Call Paul if you are interested. You will love this car. Thanks for looking. - Chris 9786219996

He had made several calls to try and get information as to the cars history. He was unable to contact anyone who had info.We arereally curious as to when and whereit was built and what the donor parts came from. As he looked under the car, e felt that the drivetrain was from a late 30's to early 40's donor. The 31's frame had been modified with an X memberto accept the later model drivetrain and steering. The steering column was from a 3 on the tree car. Most likely from the same donor. Clutch and brake pedals do not look stock. Paul felt that the car had been made into a hotrod many years ago and was updated within the past 10 years. The only person who knows for sure is the late owner. Paul wanted me to add the following: The 31 has a clear MATiltle with proper documentation from the estate . It is a Flathead V8, 9AB. It has dual smitty mufflers. Ithas 12v electric. Front end is a little loose on bumps. We changed the plugs and drained the old fuel. It starts, runs and idles much better. Sounds as only a flathead can. Give Paul a call with any other questions. Thanks
