Car description |
---|
This is my 1931 Model A Ford Roadster Deluxe project that is a result of an over two years and over $24k investment. It is nicknamed "The Gent". I tried to replicate what a car would look like if built in the late 40's as a hot rod. It was built as period-correct as possible down to the 6 volt, ositive ground electrical system - ALL HENRY FORD STEEL. The overall stance has been lowered approximately 4" front and rear. I originally built it to race on the beaches of Wildwood NJ in the Race of Gentlemen; however, he car is fresh and I wanted to keep it this way. Original hood is included. Pics are without the hood is as I like the way it looks!
Whenever possible, tried to use pre-1950 parts whether new, sed or rebuilt. The only exceptions I allowed myself (in the interest of safety and dependability) were the F100 steering box, he FSI ignition and the Flathead Ted floating brake system. I started with solid, mateur-grade 40 year old restoration on a 1931 Ford Model A Roadster Deluxe with a rumble seat. As you will see in the pics, resisted the temptation to create a trailer queen. The patina on much of this car is wonderful. I drove it around a while and then started the build. The result, ith quite a bit of influence from Mel Stultz (TROG) is a full-fendered hot rod with non-descript changes and upgrades.
Please look closely at the pictures. This is a very good running, riving, topping 84 year old vehicle. The engine and transmission both have oil; therefore, hey leak! As indicated, t is a 40+ year old (amateur) paint job. While the body is solid, t has waves and chips. It is my goal to have a very happy buyer with NO SURPRISES or disappointments! International sales are welcome as long as you, he buyer, oordinate and pay for shipping.

THE ENGINE BACK STORY
The engine, s I was told, as built in Idaho to run on the salt flats. It was built in the late 50's and set in a 1930 Ford Model A Coupe and was not started. Soon after, he owner passed. A second individual then purchased the project from his estate and the car sat in his garage, ntouched, or over 50 years...the engine still not fired up. The 3rd owner, arry V of ID was at a flea market selling A parts and was approached by the widow of the second owner and Larry bought the project from her. He took the engine to a machine shop ("Troys Engine and Mfg" in Rigby ID) who tore down the engine, id a fresh hone on the cylinders; checked all the tolerances, leaned up the 50 year old assembly lube and prepped it to start. Larry then started it up and then posted it on the HAMB for sale. I bought the engine in January 2013 for a '27 roadster I had at the time but never installed it. The engine sat until October of 2014, hen I turned the 1931 project over to TJ O'Grady of Throttle Jockey Originals for engine and trans installation.
