1970 Ford Mustang Convertible Up for sale is a 1970 Ford Mustang V8 Convertible! This convertible is one of 11 Grabber Green 1970 convertibles with the white deluxe interior! The 1970 convertibles are really the first Mustang convertibles to retain the "muscle" look of the fastbacks, hile still being a convertible. This car, ith its original 302 and a manual transmission, as a lot of possibility! Being an original Grabber Green car allows the car to have one of the "cooler 70s colors" and still be original. Another option would be to make a Shelby clone convertible, s these are being sold for almost $80k. Now is your chance to own a real Grabber Green V8 convertible! I have been saving this car to be restored for a few years. I have 2 kids now and my priorities have shifted. I would much rather pass on this project to somebody with more time than myself. The car is originally a Grabber Green manual transmission car with a deluxe white interior that rolled off the assembly line November 25, 969. It has the highly desirable manual transmission and a 2.79 axle ratio to help keep the RPMs down while cruising! This car was nicely optioned and built to go fast in style! As you can see from the Marti report, he car originally had front disk brakes, ower steering, ecor group and a FM radio. The body of the car is in good condition for a 46 year old Mustang. There has been some work previously on the car. The floorpans have been replaced once, ith an additional patch on the passenger side rear floorpan. The front frame rails have had some patching and reinforcing where they meet up with the inner floor frame support. It looks like they were done by someone who knew what they were doing. The front frame rails have some rusting where the bumper brackets sit. This is a very common problem area and is easy to repair. The rear of the car is where most of the work is needed. It looks like there were lower 1/4s installed previously and patching of the outer wheelhouses and trunk floors. With theavailabilityof repair panels, t would be easy enough to install new quarter skins, uter wheelhouses, runk floors and a tail panel. The rear frame rails have some rust issues. Frame rails are also available new. You might get away with patching the front and rear sections, ather than replacing the entire rear frame rails. I am a dealer for Scott Drake and can offer replacement parts at discounted prices. Find a friend who knows how to weld and you could be driving this car by next summer! Here is some retail pricing of some sheet metal parts that might be needed:Front outer frame rail patches (where front bumper bolts): $40 eachComplete convertible rear frame rails: $300 eachTrunk floors: $35 eachRear quarter skins: $100 eachOuter wheelhouse: $60 eachTail panel: $130Rear crossmember (with extra convertible pieces): $100 The engine has a date code of 9L12 (November 12, 969). It is missing it's exhaust pipes and an alternator, ut the alternator brackets are there. I can include an old alternator for a core. I have a radiator installed in the car for engine testing and it could be used, ut is a little banged up. I installed a new starter and spark plugs, s well as new oil and a filter. I did get it to run for a moment by filling the carburetor up with fuel, s seen in the video below. I would recommend a rebuild of the engine for reliability. You could basically squeeze as much power as you could ever want out of the 302! The transmission is a 3 speed transmission that I am assuming is the original. The interior is fairly complete with most of the hard to find, xpensive parts. The woodgrain instrument panel and passenger side dash filler panel are there. The front disk brakes are present and intact, s are the rear drum brakes. The booster, aster cylinder, nd distribution block are there as well. All glass is present and in good condition, ith the exception of the windshield which has some rock chips in it and the convertible top back-glass (which would come with the new convertible top). New windshields areavailablereasonable priced. The convertible top frame looks to be complete and the pump works. This car originally had a white top with the rear glass window. As far as extras, here were some seat belts in the car, battery tray, hock tower to cowl supports, battery tray. The clutch and brake pedal assembly are included. The clutch equalizer bar, eadlight buckets, nd bumpers are present as well.Overall this is a highly valuable car worth restoring. Starting with a straight body is key, nbsp;as most of these cars have rust in one way or another. With some patching I think this car is very restorable. I have a deluxe Marti report and clean Pennsylvania title from the previous owner. I'm sure I missed something. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me before the end of the auction. I tried to address all aspects of the car, f any additional pictures are needed, would be glad to send them to you. I have restored a lot of Mustangs over the last 10 years. If you have any questions about restoring this car, lease let me know. I can help the put the winning bidder in touch with a few contacts for parts or restoration help, f needed. Please remember this is a project convertible. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
