Car description

Where do trucks like this come from? Someone found a clean 1968 Ford F100, hen gave it a remarkable makeover that preserves most of its originality but adds a few upgrades, ncluding a 390 cubic inch V8 engine. Go ahead, ind another one, et alone one this nice. If you like the '60s look with a bit of muscle behind it, his is an awesome find. This is a short wheelbase, hort bed truck, hich was a relatively rare combination in 1968. However, etween May 1968 when it was built and today, t doesn't seem to have done much work. Or maybe whomever did the restoration went the extra mile and erased every mark that shows it ever carried a load and then coated it in period-perfect Rangoon Red and Wimbledon White paint. The flanks are quite straight, nd given the details of the F100 design, ost notably that crease that runs along the sides, t shows off how much time was invented in the restoration. The front bumper is painted to match the lower body and there's a roll pan out back to give it an updated look that works rather well. You'll also note the tailgate handle was shaved, subtle trick that makes a big difference out back. The chrome and trim was polished up when it was restored, nd a quick buff would bring them back to full brightness without a lot of work, ut even as-is, his is one great-looking pickup. The truck becomes all the more remarkable given the no-nonsense interior that sticks to the factory specs. Red upholstery on the bench seat looks like the factory stuff and is both stylish and durable, erfect for the environment in which it was intended to work. The door panels are upscale pleated pieces that contrast with the standard painted steel versions on lesser trucks and the floor is covered in plus red carpets, hich are still a rare find on pickups of this vintage. The instruments appear to be original and are nicely preserved, lthough they're joined by a pair of aftermarket dials very neatly installed in the outer corners of the instrument panel. There's also a real wood-rimmed steering wheel on the standard steering column and an upgraded AM/FM/cassette stereo system with speakers in the doors. A sliding rear window makes it pleasant to be inside this truck any time. The original engine was originally a code Y 360 cubic inch V8, ut when it was restored a thumping 390 was dropped between the fenders and the difference is significant. Dressed in matching bright red paint and wearing finned valve covers, t has a high-performance vibe that fits its personality. There's also a 4-barrel carburetor and long-tube headers that help build the kind of power you'll find useful in a truck. It starts easily with a very truck-like grumble from the exhaust, hich features a pair of Flowmaster mufflers and turn-downs just aft of the 9-inch rear axle. A 3-speed automatic transmission handles the gear swaps and the undercarriage is in good order, howing off the thoroughness of the paint job that even extends to the underside of the bed. The standard steel wheels were dumped in favor of a set of shiny aluminum hoops that wear 235/70/15 BFGoodrich T/A radials all around. What you're really buying here is love: someone loved this Ford and gave it a high-quality makeover that can be shown proudly.
