For sale: 1976 Dodge W-200 Power Wagon 4x4 3/4 ton rare big block 4 speed original survivor with heavy duty options. Owned by the same "greatest generation" couple for over 40 years. Purchased new in Colorado by an aerospace machinist/engineer who had served in the 15th Army Air Force B-17 squadron over Italy in WWII. He was a guy with the "right stuff" who worked on several NASA projects in the 60's glory days. The original owner and his wife kept the truck at their Montana cabin for hunting, fishing, and wood hauling. They also used it for a couple of trips to Alaska via the Alcan highway in the 1980s. As an engineer and machinist, the he took meticulous care of the truck, and also added a few accessories like cruise control, intermittent wipers, CB radio, gauges, and driving lights. After he passed away in 1993, his wife drove it sparingly for a time, making dump and hardware store runs, then parked it. Oil change receipts and records show only about a thousand miles of use (mostly maintenance miles) from 1993- current. I purchased it last year and did the requisite work to get it running and driving well. Very correct and original truck right down to the factory jack and tools, original spare tire holder, and documents including manuals and receipts. Even the "fasten seat belts" and "transfer case lock" dash lights work. Camper shell shown has been on the truck since new, and it's included along with the original hub caps. Also included are extra filters, gaskets, seals, and tire chains that were kept behind the seat. If you know this era Dodge truck, you know how hard it is to find a cream puff, especially in a 3/4 ton 4x4. PLEASE see the Photobucket album link with pics including the underside in the description below, and the YouTube video.
Exterior: Original paint except tailgate, presents very well and will draw compliments at the gas station or Home Depot. Hood is faded, might buff out. Tailgate was repaired and repainted at some point. Its a really straight truck with only a few dings as shown. Very dry also, I'd say 99 percent rust free, only one small spot at bottom of passenger side front fender and a few tiny blisters behind driver side rear wheel. Underside looks very good with only surface rust on bare metal components, and of course we don't see frame rot here out west. I believe the truck has never seen salt. The topper kept the inside of the box dry and it's not rusty, but is dented in places from hauling firewood. Exterior chrome is very good with no pitting. Glass is good including windshield. Just an honest original survivor. SEE DETAIL PICS in Photobucket album for close ups of all areas.
Interior: All original in decent survivor condition. Dash and door panels have no cracks, there is a small tear in original seat upholstery on driver side. Glass is good including windshield. Lights, heater, wipers, parking brake, gauges(except fuel), radio, even CB radio all working. Even the "fasten belts" and "transfer case lock" dash lights work. No rodents or smells, truck was properly stored. Even the wife will enjoy riding in it to Cars N Coffee or the Steak N Shake.
Mechanical: Starts, runs, and drives out fine. Truck is tight and has a low mile feel to it, very unusual for this era Power Wagon. Original big block 400 has no smoke, noises, or major leaks, and has great oil pressure. I was told the rings and bearings were replaced along with timing chain and oil pump, but I can't find receipts in the file for that. The oil pan, timing cover, and intake and valve covers have definitely been off and been repainted. 4wd works fine in low and high range and even the 4wd dash light comes on. Truck sat for a few years, and I had a professional mechanic rebuild the carb and drain the fuel on the main tank. Needs sending unit float as the fuel gauge is not working. Have not tried the auxiliary tanks, I think they are empty. Needs mufflers replaced, and tires are dry rotted. If desired, I will include the original 16" split rims mounted with a set of usable 12-ply highway radials. Truck will need further sorting, but it's a running driving truck right now. If you live in a state with very strict vehicle inspections, they will probably find some things for you to fix so expect that.
Pricing/Misc: This truck is NO RESERVE and will sell. Reasonable transport is available, I will drive truck to meet your transporter and help load it. Title is clear and in my name, buyer will need to get insurance upon purchase as I will cancel mine.
