Offered is a 1937 Dodge MC 1/2 ton pickup truck that is in pristine condition. This truck underwent a five-year restoration (that cost close to $50K) with significant attention to stock detail. It carries it's original drive train (all numbers match the included build card) that has been restored to precise specifications.
The frame off restoration included complete stripping and prep/paint of metal in original colors of Twentieth Century Red over black fenders. The cab interior is the original grey with matching seat covers and interior liner. All rusted metal was cut out and replaced with new sheet metal. It then received multiple coats of base/clear and blocking. The bed was a challenge. We replaced the head panel and tail gate and then after lots of work, had a new floor fabricated to replace the original. All of the work on the bed is an exact copy of the original, and in like new condition.
The engine was completely disassembled and rebuilt with new Egge parts (over $4000 just for this). It was balanced when reassembled and new valve seats installed. The distributor was also rebuilt along with the generator and starting motor. New copper mesh installed in the air cleaner.
Five new Coker bias ply tires were installed and the original hubcaps restored to original condition.
A new cloth covered wiring harness from Rhode Island Wire was used and turn signals were added to the harness. The original 6V system was maintained and new bulbs installed. NOS gauges were used, and the speedometer was restored by Bob's Speedometer. The fuel tank was restored and new supply line installed. All tubing in the truck is stainless steel from Classic Tube, and most hardware is also SS (with lettering removed from the heads).
The original running boards were recovered and all rubber on the truck was replaced along with the glass. Extreme attention to detail was pursued including such items as silk screening the original VIN plate with original artwork. A NOS ignition tumbler and keyed alike passenger door lock were used, and all function as new. The bright work was all re-plated including the gauge bezels and small ring that fits around the horn button. For those of you familiar with this model, you may notice the diecast grill, Ram hood ornament and grill surround moldings. These parts are all in like new condition and have over $3500 invested in just this part of the truck.
Unknown to most folks is that the tail light lenses are riveted into the bezels and the mounting screw fits through the eyelet. This was done on both taillights to duplicate originality. For that matter, everything on this truck is as it was when it left the factory. A true collectible.
I have hundreds of pictures and all the receipts of the restoration process, along with a summary of the restoration process. Please contact me for more information. The truck is located in the Pittsburgh area, and will help load for both domestic and international shipment.
I am asking below cost, and interested in reasonable offers. Have two more vehicles to restore and could use the space and $$. Mobile number is 412-956-2852. Feel free to contact me for more info, etc.
