Car description

This auction is for a 1969 Dodge Charger coupe.Please read full description. Also if you have under 25 feed back please contact us prior to bidding.Recently out of 40 year storage. Will need complete restoration but a very worthy project. Prior owner was the second owner and stored the car away in late 1978 but kept it registered until may of 1979. The old Maine license plates are still affixedto the car. This car has many options that you normally don't see on a Dodge Charger muscle car. My guess is that it was an executive car ordered special for a dealer demo (maybe the wifes car). Here is a list of the options. The car came bright yellow with a white vinyl to, 383 2bbl 290 hp V-8, heavy duty torque flite auto trans, ps, power drum brakes, power windows, air cond, speed control, rear window defogger, am 8 track tape player with 3 speaker dash, rear seat speakers, 3spd auto wipers, sport steering wheel, 4 way adjustable drivers seat, ds remote mirror, deep tinted glass, tic toc tach and clock, bucket seats, wood grain console with floor shift, hood mounted turn signals, wheel house moldings, deluxe rear trunk moldings, bumper guards front and rear, chrome magnum 500 wheels,and posi traction rear. The outside ac parts and cruise control box are missing. There may be other little items that I could not decode. The original 383 is long gone but was replaced with a 1967 440 hp that came out of a GTX. The motor turned over when we got it so we did an oil change and a tune up and started the motor. It ran but skipped so we figured there may be a few stickyvalves. We changed the oil again pulled the valve covers and found a couple of push rods had come loose. We put them back in plac, torqued down the rockers and had the motor running pretty decent until it started to pop through the carb intermintently we pulled the valve covers again and this time a push rod had come loose on the drivers side. So we purchased some kroil which is a strong penetrate let it sit for a couple of days and then turned the motor over slowly with out the coil wire hooked up. Just as everything seemed like it was going fine one of the tips of the valves broke. The valve did not fall down it is still stuck in the head. So thats where we stopped. At the least will need that head pulled to replace that valve or do a complete valve job to do it right . The brakes are down but the pedal is not froze. As you can see the interior is complete but will need to be redone. The dash has no cracks and is in great condition. The body on the car had prior lower quarter panel repair and a piece of metal welded over the old trunk pan. Those areaswill need to be redone to be done right also there is some rust through on the very bottom rear of the rocker panels . Surprisinglythe original floor pans are in good solid condition with the factory under coating even into the wheel tubs. Frame rails are real solid front to back. With the front ones showing original paint. Torsion bar area is good and clean all the way out to the ends. Just slight surface rust on areasthat were not under coated. Rear tail pan needs repair. The car was in various stages of prime, filler, and peeling paint everywhere. We sanded most of the car down to bare metal, cleaned up the filler areasand put 4 coats of tint prime on to protect the body from the weather. Of course this will need to be redone properly but figured if you could not get to it right away this will help. There is a small piece of plastic broken out on the passenger side of the grill. I do have most of that piece that can be epoxiedback in to repair. We have the fender tag to the car along with the last Maine registration should you need a title in your state. 69 chargers are growing in value daily and it is not often that you find a fairly loaded one. I believethat this makes it more valuable in the end. The main thing is that it has good solid bones to work with. We have some local interest in the car so we reserve the right to end the auction early . We will entertain a buy it now if you don't want to wait for the auction to end as long as we can get together on price. If the car meets reserve we will let the auction run to the end to be fair to all potential buyers.
