Car description |
---|
1971 DeTomaso Pantera. First, a little history on the car based on the myriad of registrations, insurance cards, bill of sale, etc., that came with it when I bought it...I have owned this Pantera since November 2000 when I lived in Alabama. I purchased it in Atlanta with 50,500 original miles on the odometer from the third owner, private sale. Going backwards in time, the second owner purchased the vehicle in Fontana, California, in April 1974, with 16,033 miles, dealer sale. He moved to Zephyr Cove, Nevada, in 1977 and eventually moved east to the Atlanta, Georgia, area, sometime in the 80's, selling it to the gentlemen I bought it from in 1988. I don't know anything about the original owner, but one record (Georgia title issued to second owner in 1988) indicates it was purchased new in September of 1972. The vehicle is currently titled in Georgia in my name...clean, clear title.
I bought the Pantera with the intent of doing a rolling restoration, with the usual upgrades (lay down radiator, updated wheels, etc.). I drove it for approximately 3 years and enjoyed it very much, however, the gas tank began leaking due to corrosion within which isn't uncommon but that is essentially when I stopped driving it. A very small puddle of gas would form overnight. About that time, I was also in the middle of replacing the driver's side window motor so you'll notice in the pictures that the door panel is removed. Long story short, I was also newly married and had a child on the way so that is when and why I stopped driving it altogether. I intended to resume at some point but never did. So it has been sitting like this for the last 15 or so years. It has been garage kept for as long as I've owned it but it does have some rust on the rocker panels (see pictures) which was present when I bought it in 2000. Also some rust on the bottom seam of the front valance (see picture). The wheel wells are clean, along with the rest of the body, minus one spot of corrosion the size of a penny in the center of the right headlight (see picture). There is a small dent (dimple) in the center of the drivers side door, not very noticeable, like something from a car door or shopping cart. The chrome is good, some pieces close to perfect but the rear bumperettes have some slight pitting. Glass is all original, no cracks, breaks, or damage of any kind. The rear right muffler hanger broke when it was shipped in conjunction with a move from Alabama to Georgia in 2007. Please ask if you have any questions and I'm happy to send additional pictures if you desire. I have original seats and other miscellaneous parts, all included. As is, it will take more than I am willing to put in (sweat/money) to get this Pantera breathing fire again (which it did!), so bidding starts at $19,999 no reserve. Buyer to coordinate and pay all shipping costs. It is not running so please factor that into your shipping arrangements. On Aug-12-18 at 20:34:01 PDT, seller added the following information:

Please note that the correct VIN number is THPNLE0418 as listed at the top of item specifics. I was looking at another Pantera auction when I created my listing and had clicked on "Sell one like this" to populate the basics of my listing. Ebay copied over that vehicles VIN and I changed it at the top of item specifics but a separate VIN field appears at the bottom. If you're interested, the other auction is number 263578557419. I cannot revise anything in item specifics once a bid is in and Ebay customer service won't do it as a matter of policy either...sorry for any confusion. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you-
