Car description |
---|
This is a nice old DeSoto that was sold new in Indiana. It was the top of the line for 1953 and featured the Hemi V-8.I have a copy of the original sales receipt, this well equipped car sold new for $3,646. It has a radio, fluid drive, heater and power steering.
The title is mileage exempt although I believe that the mileage is original at 53,964. There is a service sticker from 1969 with the mileage indicated at 51,000.
The car runs and drives well, but should be done through to ensure safe reliability.
The car has brand new black wall radial tires with fewer than 100 miles on them. I put them on last summer.
The battery was put in 2015 and has been kept on a 6 volt battery tender.
The car has a very nice presentable interior. The fuel system was gone through by the previous owner and included a carb rebuild and gas tank renew. This was done in 2014 or 15. The car was part of a large collection and while enjoyed was not driven very much.
The hood springs are tired and will not hold the hood up very far. There is a rattle when the clutch is out but stops when it is pushed in. The brakes should be gone through as they are pulling to the left. There are many paint flaws especially around the fenders. The car could be repainted or enjoyed as is.
The car includes some spare parts including an extra set of hubcaps. It also has a great literature collection of sales and service literature that is included in the sales price.
Thank you for looking at the car and please reach out to me for any questions.
