Car description |
---|
55 Desoto Firedome V8. Car was restored in the 90s, 291 Hemi V8 was rebuilt and installed last year. Very clean & dry car. Solid floor and trunk pans, chassis is extremely clean. All new stainless exhaust system and Goodyear Super Cushion deluxe bias belted tires installed early this year and don't yet have 800 miles on them.
Original 6 volt electrical system, converted to negative ground and generator replaced with 6 volt alternator. Carburetor replaced with NOS unit, fuel pump updated to electric.
Brake system rebuilt by previous owner and haven't needed service. Paint is good for 30 years old, some blemishes and not show quality.
I've also restored the original radio and added an internal Bluetooth circuit, so a phone can sync and play through the original vacuum tube electronics. Steering wheel is crumbling and has a cover on it.
Everything works well on the car except speedometer and dome light. Steering all rebuilt and tight as a pin. This car drives like a new car from 1955.
The car is completely stock except for fuel pump, alternator, and radio update. Only quirks are that it sometimes runs rough when first started in cold weather and has a single hydraulic lifter tick about half of the time. There is some rust bubbling on the lower driver side rear quarter, but nowhere else on the car, a small piece of stainless missing beneath the rear windshield and also the "Powerflite" script below the trunk lid.
I've updated the fuel system with a ported fuel filter and vapor return line to the tank to deal with our California ethanol laden gasoline. This is the car you want if you want something ready to drive or show. Not a project! Much of the engine bay has been rewired.
This car is super reliable. I just last week drove it from the Sacramento valley up to South Lake Tahoe and back without a problem.
Clear title, ready to drive away. Car comes with a folder full of documentation and receipts including engine machine work. If you're in the area and would like to come see it, drop me a line.
