Car description |

Up for sale is a rare, 6/70 production date Datsun 240z! This is the first year of production and is a very early example, part of the first 7000 that received the unique “2400†valve cover along with other series 1 features. This is a running and driving project that needs to be finished and enjoyed! It is an overall solid example, frame is in decent shape as well as the floors, there is some rust bubbling on the front fender and damage to the dogleg (pictured) but overall the car is straight and a worthy project. The doors, hatch, and hood shut well and the gaps are tight. The interior is in decent shape but missing some series 1 accessories and incorrectly reupholstered seats, but it has the correct series 1 fiberglass console and seatbelts. Speaker holes have been installed in the door panels and the tool box area. The trunk area is in great shape for its age, with the spare tire being very solid with original paint, the trunk lid has had a repair done in the past but the hatch is very solid. The engine has been upgraded to an L28 that appears to be rebuilt, and the transmission has been upgraded to a 5 speed. If you wish to return to totally factory specs, L24 blocks and a series 1 4 speed are available. The car runs and drives well, the brakes have been serviced and replaced. The top end of the engine is totally original, original E46 intake manifold and 4 screw carb set up with the rare series 1 air cleaner with no flapper. The hood shows no signs of damage or bondo, and the front core support is in great shape with no signs of damage or repair.
Overall, this is a great start on an early production date 240z that can be taken to the next level and shaped into a beautiful car!
