Beautiful 1952 Citroen Traction Avant Model 11BL for sale. Clear Virginia title in my name. Mileage is as shown on odometer but is unverified. This is a classic and beautifulflat-back Legere which has been carefully stored for years and not neglected.
I removed the hood and grillein order to remove and replacethe transmission, replace the clutch and pressure plate and radiator. Iordered a new fuel tank, fuel sender, fuel pump, silencer and tail pipe, heater ducting and other repair parts from Belgium this summer. The original fuel tank had rusted out on the bottom, so I removed it, cleaned the compartment and painted it with undercoat, then installed the tank. The new exhaust and heat ducting need installing. This is an easy project for someone in love with these iconic Citroens. Bolt together thegrille and hoodpanels, hang the exhaust, tune the engine and you could have a great driver.
I parked heraround 2004 when the transmission stuck, searched for a few years to find a shop to rebuild it. Dave Burnham did a complete ($4000) transmission rebuild with a new clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing.Last year Ifitted 4 new Michelins on powder coated wheels, replaced the fuel tank with a factory matching new one, the radiator with a new aluminum one. I did retain the original radiator which was in working condition. The carb is rebuilt. The engine turns freely and can run but the distributor needs rebuilt. The interior is in original Traction fabric and is in good condition with no tears. The paint is in great condition with no rust bubbles, especially along the rocker panels and door bottoms (where these are known to rust). Aside from some minor scratches in the paint, there are no dents or dings in the body work. I have the bumpers, headlights and all parts that were removed to pull the engine and transmission. I also have 2-3 boxes of spare parts such as carbs, Cardan Joints, front axles, electrics. I have several service, repair and overhaul manuals.
This Legere was restored in 1988 in Pennsylvania after having been shipped over from Val d'Isere in France. I purchased it around 1997, drove it sparingly until the transmission locked up. Work, kids in college and life in general got ahead of me, but I kept this beauty under its car cover in a dry garage all the while, waiting for the time to get her back on the road. Unfortunately, it is now time for someone else to live that dream.
I have over $14,800 invested in this Traction Avant. It is located in Shenandoah County, Virginia. I can not ship this Citroen, so buyer needs to arrange a car hauler or bring a trailer. I can assist in loading if necessary. This Citroen is being sold as is, where is with no warranty. Please ask questions before committing to buy or message me to arrange an inspection visit. The $500 deposit payable on close of this auction is non-refundable. This is todiscourage fraudulent bidders. Thank -you.
