Sleek, powerful, and iconic, this 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle SS Tribute gets it right. There have been the right investments in the V8 power, suspension, overdrive transmission, interior, SS style upgrades, and metallic paint to amplify everything you love about this hardtop icon.
This coupe is coming off of long term ownership with the consignor owning this since 1981. The was even a complete restoration done in 2015, and only about 14k miles since then. That's how you get a well-kept car with some cool upgrades. For example, the green paint has a distinctive style all on its own. But when you add sunlight into the mix, the metallic element really pops for the kind of radiance you notice from across a parking lot. This shine also lets the light roll evenly over the crisp body and letting people know this is a thoroughly restored coupe. And so it gives the exact right first impression you want on a car like this: something that's quite classic but also has had a ton of more recent investments. Contrasting the deep green glow are the speedy dual racing stripes. And the SS-style blackout grille and tinted windows coordinate for some added intimidation. In fact, this gets the right Super Sport attitude with upgrades like the cowl hood, hood pins, full SS badging, and wide dual exhaust tips. Plus, those 15-inch American Racing Torque Thrust wheels add to the performance style, and at the same time, they are part of the full brightwork package that includes the full trim and excellent chrome bumpers.
The tan interior makes for a tasteful color combo against the deep green exterior. The seats, door panels, and headliner are particularly nice in this restore coupe. When they worked on this coupe there was a nice effort to keep the factory pieces in place while still adding the right upgrades for a great driver. For example, the Delco AM/FM radio is still in the dash, but cleanly mounted below it is a modern AM/FM/CD stereo with USB input for the best in modern driving music. This was born a factory A/C car, and so the controls are still in the dash. But now the updated R134a system works from controls mounted in the glovebox (it will need a recharge/service before ideally blowing cold again.) You get the classic high-back bucket seat, and the driver's experience is now upgraded with a B&M floor sifter, wood-rimmed steering wheel, an AutoMeter auxiliary readout trio, and a large column-mounted tach.
Under the hood is 350 cubic-inch V8. It has an upgraded appearance with polished components and flame-kissed valve covers. But what you'll really love is the added performance of the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Weiand aluminum intake, and long tube headers feeding the X-pipe dual exhaust. This even has good supporting components, like an MSD ignition and an aluminum radiator. It's a strong all-around package, and so you get to take full advantage of it with the upgrade to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission with highway-ready overdrive. The undercarriage photos show you upgraded components like fresher bushings and the SS-style reinforced rear suspension arms w/sway bar. And you also have power steering and upgraded four-wheel power disc brakes.
The sale comes complete with owner's manual, maintenance records, and restoration photos. This is the long-term loved Chevy hardtop that was built to really enjoy the drive and look great everywhere you arrive. Call today!!!
