1966 CHEVY CORVETTE 390 HP 427 4 SPEED NUMBERS MATCHING CONVERTIBLE. 3 1/2 YEAR BODY OFF RESTORATION, EVERYTHING WAS EITHER REBUILT OR REPLACED TOP TO BOTTOM FRONT TO BACK. RESTORED TO NCRS SPECS ALL CASTING NUMBERS AND DATES ARE CORRECT. THE ONLY COMPROMISES WERE THE ORIGINAL RADIO WAS CONVERTED TO STEREO WITH AN IPOD JACK AND KICK PANEL SPEAKERS INSTALLED (I DO HAVE THE CORRECT FABRIC PANELS AVAILABLE), THE MECHANICAL CLOCK WAS CONVERTED TO QUARTZ, THE 66 MODELS HAD AN ELECTRIC MOTOR OPERATED RADIO ANTENNA AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT. I THINK THESE PROBABLY FUNCTIONED INTERMITTENTLY AT BEST SO MUCH SO THAT HAND OPERATED ONES ARE REPRODUCED TO LOOK CORRECT WHICH I INSTALLED. THE SWITCHES ARE STILL PRESENT AND THE NEW WIRE HARNESS IS WIRED TO INSTALL IF SO INCLINED ALSO A SPIN ON OIL FILTER RATHER THAN THE ORIGINAL CANISTER IS INSTALLED WHICH IS EASILY CONVETED BACK IF THE MESSY CANISTER IS PREFERRED. THE POWER STEERING OPTION ACTUALLY MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO PARALLEL PARK THIS CAR. ENGINE REBUILT BY R&L ENGINES, TRANSMISSION BY DARRELL'S IN INDIANA, REAR END AND TRAILING ARMS BY AMERICAN CLASSICS. THE BODY WAS MEDIA BLASTED, GELCOATED, EPOXY PRIME, RALLY RED ACRYLIC LACQUERED WITH A LACQUER TOP COAT APPLIED. THIS CAR WAS PARTIALLY DISMANTLED IN THE MID 70'S AND STORED YOU CAN JUST MAKE OUT THE ENGINE BLOCK IN THE COCKPIT BEHIND THE SEATS AND OTHER PARTS IN THE COCKPIT WHEN I BROUGHT IT HOME. WHEN I PULLED THE INTERIOR APART I FOUND SEVERAL DOLLARS WORTH OF CHANGE UNDER THE SEATS, NONE OF WHICH WAS DATED LATER THAN 74 THERE WAS A PARTIAL SET OF LIFTERS STILL IN THE BOX DATED 1975. THIS IS A GREAT DRIVING CAR THERE IS NOTHING LIKE A 427 MID-YEAR CORVETTE. ALTHOUGH I HAVE NEVER TRIED DUE TO THE TIME AND MONEY I HAVE IN THIS CAR I WOULD GUESS IF ONE WAS INCLINED YOU COULD PROBABLY SPIN THE TIRES THROUGH 3RD GEAR AND GET RUBBER IN 4TH AS WELL. I HAVE A LARGE FOLDER OF INVOICES FOR PARTS AND LABOR DONE NOT INCLUDING THE 450 OR SO HOURS OF MY TIME.
