1962 Chevrolet Impal, Safford, AZ ENTHUSIAST MOTORS LLC 1610 S 1ST AVE, Safford, AZ 85546 (833) 386-2279 1962 Chevrolet Impala
Mechanically it is in excellent condition; the 327 V8 starts easily, runs smoothly and has good power and torque. Notable upgrades to the engine include: an Edelbrock performance intake manifold, a Holly 600 CFM carburetor, MSD ignition system, Headman long tube headers, custom exhaust system featuring Flow Master mufflers with side exits behind the rear doors. The 327 is paired with a 2 speed Powerglide automatic transmission that shifts smoothly and has been fitted with a Hurst T-handle shifter. The car has power brakes and stops very well considering the size and that it still has drum brakes on all four corners. The steering also has power assist and the car handles and steers as well as any American cars of the period do.
Cosmetically the car shows well but the restoration is starting to show its age. The car was driven by the previous owner almost daily. The body is pretty straight and only shows minor parking lot door dings or dents in the front and rear bumpers. The paint still shines and shows well considering it’s now an 18-year-old paint job; it does however have a few spots where the paint has peeled around the front and rear windows and shows what appears to be small surface rust bubbles forming on the lower portion of the front fenders. The bright work and trim is in good condition and is extremely straight (excluding the aforementioned dents in the bumpers) but could use a polish. All of the glass is crack and chip free but does have old window tint film that is beginning to discolor and the wing windows are starting to de-laminate. All imperfections of note are pictured in the gallery, so please inspect the photos closely.
The interior is in great shape, the carpets and seats have just been professionally cleaned and show only minor wear from use. All of the original gauges work and all of the dash and interior trim is in excellent condition. The original radio is still intact and so is the optional air conditioning unit, all be it the A/C is not connected or functioning.
This car has been owned by the same family since 1982 and has registration paperwork dating back to 1976! It also has a comprehensive service history and an album including photos of when the car was restored in 2002 as well as photos of the trophies it collected at various car shows and meets. Also included is a reproduction 1962 owner's manual and many miscellaneous spare parts.
