We're starting see a few of our favorite time capsules escape from their garages, and this 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROC Z/28 is a prime example. With vibrant red paint, a loaded A/C interior, and a fuel-injected V8, this is a mean machine that has only about 12,500 miles on the odometer! So you know slipping behind the wheel feels like 1988 all over again.
This car has an actual mileage title, and the excellent preserved condition of this coupe really reinforces that feeling. The factory-correct Bright Red paint shows all signs of being the original application, and it really has a terrific shine. Keep that in mind as you look at how the light evenly radiates off the red: that's the level of care that has been put into this car for over three decades. But desirability goes far beyond preservation. Chevy knew how to dress its most aggressive Camaro correctly. The full body kit, hood louvers, rear spoiler, and 16-inch IROC-Z alloys are all part of a planned attack as the top V8 Camaro was out to re-take the streets back from the 5.0 Mustangs.
There's a cool black and gray stripe pattern that encircles the exterior of the car. Not only does it look great against the red, but also it's a preview of the interior colors, too. Just like the exterior, everything feels stock and well-preserved. It has great features for everyone to enjoy like power windows, power locks, the stock AM/FM/cassette stereo, and factory air conditioning (now blowing cold with modern R134a.) But of course, an IROC-Z is a true driver's machine. You get the comfortable high-back bucket seats and the armrest center console in-between. And the factory three-spoke wheel on the tilt column has been specifically developed for comfortable hand positioning while still getting a clear view at the full gauge package with large speedo and tach.
The engine bay continues the time capsule appearance. The pristine level of preservation under the hood is another sign of the kind of care you want in a classic that you will cherish. So it should also be no surprise that this is believed to be the original motor to the car. It will fill you with pride as you open the hood at events, and how that it's correct right down to the decals. But as much as you might want to store this coupe away like precious metal, we don't want you to miss out on all the fun. This car is great for driving near or far. That's why the 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission is great for quick performance downshifts as well as overdrive comfort. Plus, there's the factory sport-tuned suspension with sway bars front & rear, power steering, cruise control, and power brakes w/discs up front and ABS.
This is the IROC-Z for those who want a true time warp. And rarely is something so well preserved also so obtainable. Call now!
