Car description

1970 Chevrolet El Camino SS - 25 Years Owned - Fully Restored in 1995 - 350hp 396ci V8 w/Muncie M20 4Speed - Finished in the Original Cranberry Red over Black Bucket Seats - (Please note: If you happen to be viewing this vehicle on a website other than our main website, it's possible that only some of our many photographs of this car are presented due to website limitations. To be sure you access all the photographs, please go to... our main website: Garage Kept Motors.) In Chevrolet's advertising for the '70 El Camino they touted the car's good looks, luxury and toughness in one package, and that there was nothing quite like an ElCamino. This particular ElCamino ticks all the boxes that Chevy mentions! This is a gorgeous ElCamino, offering a 396ci V8 mated to a Muncie M20, bucket seats, console, solid and straight body, and all finished in the original color combination. What's not to like?! This car was purchased in September of 1995 as a restoration project. The body received a good amount of attention, receiving a number of NOS GM parts to bring it back to its former glory. Rear quarter panels, front outer wheel housings, passenger's side door skin, bed moulding set, wheel well moulding set, and ElCamino Emblems were all NOS parts that our client procured and carefully replaced on the car through the restoration process. In addition, the gas tank and hood hinges were replaced as the restoration progressed. Once the body was finished and deemed ready for paint it was sprayed in the original Cranberry Red (code 75) with a Black Vinyl Top (code B). A Cowl Induction hood was added, and black stripes finish off the body. Centerline billet aluminum wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich white letter tires, and the slight rake give the car a nice stance. Inside this ElCamino is a very nicely finished interior consisting of the original black trim (code 756) with bucket seats, a center console, and a crisp dashboard that has what looks to be the original radio mounted in it. Under the cowl induction hood is a '71 350hp 396ci V8 mated to a Muncie M20 transmission. A few mods have been made to the engine in the form of an Edelbrock Intake Manifold, Holley 750 Carb, Mallory Distributor, Comp Cam, and custom 2.5" exhaust. When our client brought the car in for us to list, he brought us a large stack of paperwork documenting parts and service. This gentleman keeps great records of his vehicles, including writing down the date he brings vehicles home, when a vehicle is started for the first time after a restoration, and receipts for even the simplest of parts. This is a clean, crisp car that is ready for a new home after 25 years with one owner. As Chevy put it in their ad campaigns, 'There's nothing like an ElCamino'.
