I purchased this car in 1990 with the intention of restoring it to a nice street car. Then life got in the way and after a couple of years I decided to wait for retirement when I had more time to work on it. I have now been retired 10 years and it is evident I will never complete or start this restoration. It is time to let some one younger and with more energy than me to take it over. It has been sitting in the corner of my pole barn in dry storage on concrete all that time. I got it out this spring, washed it off, cleaned the fuel system, and got it running. I then installed a rebuilt master cylinder, rebuilt the wheel cylinders and got the brakes working. I then went thru the required lighting system and got them all working so it could be driven on the road. However, I believe this car has not been on the road since at least 1983 when the Kentucky license and inspection expired. It will no doubt need work, repair, and TLC before it will be dependable transportation. Prior to 1983 this car has obliviously seen its share of wet roads and road salt. It has rust in almost all the places that 1957 Chevy's usually rust including the floors and trunk. Most of the rust seems to be in the areas where the tires have thrown up moisture. I only see surface rust in the frame and while under the car I did not see any rust in the rear floor boards. The spare tire well also looks good. I have never removed the carpet or trunk mat. The front floor boards do have rust thru. The cars is in typical 60's/70's style with a 327 engine, manual 3 speed transmission with floor shift, reverse wheels, and bucket seats. The seats appear to be from a mid 60's Impala. The back looks good but the fronts have rips. Due to liability I have never driven this car on the road and it will not be as long as it is in my name. I have driven it up and down my driveway and in the yard. It fires on all cylinders and shifts smoothly into all gears as it should. The body is fairly straight and the only major damage I see is in the rear of the passenger quarter panel. See picture. Most, but not all of the stainless looks to be in pretty good shape. All the chrome is either dull, pitted, or rusty. The exhaust system was rusty and dragging the ground so I removed it from the header pipes back. It has a clear title in my name and it has an Indiana replacement VIN. I believe it was purchased at a police auction in the early 60's and the buyer applied for a new VIN and title. It was common practice back then no one cared. I am pretty sure I knew the owner in 1965. If an original VIN is important to the buyer, I have one and a title not in my name that can go with the car. Contact me for details. The original trim tag is on the car and the original color is dark green. I have described this car the best I can.The car is being sold as is where is and I make no guarantees. There is no reserve. There are no refunds. The car will not be released until all funds have cleared my bank. Ask questions and inspections are welcome. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer and I will help in any way I can.
