Car description |
---|
For sale is a very nice and very original 1970 Malibu. This car was bought new out of Reilly Chevrolet-Cadillac in Steubenville Ohio. Car is Astro Blue with a Dark Blue vinyl top and blue cloth interior. Car retains most of its original paint and its entire original interior. I owned this car in 2006 and recently bought it back due to the originality and the way it runs. It is truly a great car.
Exterior - The car retains most of its original paint which still makes a great appearance. Over the years you can see signs of where some touch-ups were done, on both doors, front fender, around the keyhole on the deck lid, etc. The paint still has a very nice shine and when all cleaned up waxed it looks great. The original blue vinyl top is in great shape, no signs of rust under the top. All of the tinted glass in the car is excellent, no chips, no scratches no blemishes. Bumpers are in great shape, chrome is still very brilliant as are the Malibu moldings. To be perfect the stainless could stand a polish. All of the exterior rubber is original to the car and still near perfect condition - the stuff that they don't reproduce today! Grill is in excellent shape and shows as original to the car. The engine compartment was undercoated most likely when it was new and it has kept everything very solid. Underneath the car is driver quality, everything is very solid but it was probably painted about 10 years and 10k miles ago.
Interior - Other than minor wear on the carpet, this original blue interior is about as mint as you could fine. No signs of wear on front or rear seat covers. Door panels are in excellent shape, headliner is mint, dome light still works, door buzzer still works. The dash pad is not cracked, the dash and instrument panel is like new, clear and not hazed over like many cars you see today. Steering wheel doesn't have any cracks. The only thing not original inside the car is the stereo and speakers someone added a while back.
Running/Driving - The car still has its original 307ci motor and 350 automatic transmission. Car runs and drives excellent and is actually a fun driving car for having a 307. The car has dual exhaust, power steering, power disc brakes and it is easy to drive. It floats down the road without a rattle or a squeak. It is a very tight car. Not an understatement to say it drives as good as it did new back in 1970. Stops fine and goes down the road straight. Doesn't smoke or leak anything. Wouldn't be afraid to get in this car and drive it to California. When i owned the car in 2006 it had 69,228 miles, the gentlemen who cared for the car the last 13 years put a little over 10k miles on it. This car hasn't been sitting around collecting dust and doesn't need an overhaul - Its ready to go!
If you are looking for an extremely solid 1970 Malibu, that you can get in right now and drive this is the car for you. Also if your looking for a really solid start to an SS clone this is the car for you. It certainly isn't a restored flawless car, but it is original and all there. There aren't too many of these cars out there untouched anymore! I try to be as critical as possible when listing vehicles - everyone's nice is different so the best way to get a feel for the car is to come see it in person and drive it!
Car is for sale locally and as long as the reserve is not met, car will be taken down if sold. Immediate $500 deposit due within 24 hrs. of auction end. If you would like additional info or have specific questions please email or call Jack at 330-502-8598. Thank you!
