Description

This auction is for a numbers matching 1969 Corvette 427 Coupe original color was Monza Red with black interior. This is a restoration projec, the frame numbers and engine numbers match as does the transmission. I acquired this car from the original owner now in his late 70s who bought the car new from Holiday Chevrolet on Taraval St in San Francisco. The original owner told me the 33622 miles shown on the odometer was the correct mileage, but had no documentation. The original engine was started a couple years ago and turns free, I didn't try to start it but believe it will run after some tinkering. He said he occasionally street raced the car on The Great Highway when he was younger amazingly the original engine survived. The Great Highway is a 3 miles stretch straight level of 4 Lane road along Ocean Beach where a lot of racers from all over the area hung out to street race for money in the 1960s and 1970s. The body of this car is in good condition except the outer side of the windshield frame very common to these cars .He said he took it to a paint shop over 20 years ago to get it painted and when they discover the windshield frame rust they brought the car home and it sat in the garage. The frame and undercarriage has no rust and looks almost perfect. The windshield frames for C3s are reproduced and an easy fix now. It's about a 3 hour job with video on line .The vin tag rusted off and is missing but the frame numbers and engine number match. The car has power windows, power steering, power brakes, tilt telescoping steering column. The fiberglass body is in good condition, the rear fender were flared for big tires back in the day and the hood was modified for a cowl hood scoop. I have the front spoiler. The original seats are not torn and have no holes. In one photo you can see the original GM radiator hose. I am selling the car with a bill of sale as it hasn't been registered in California in twenty five years and is out of the system. The frame number is visible with a mirror on top of the frame in the driver side rear wheel opening and as a said matches the motor 9S700864. The complete VIN would be 194379S700864 a very early 1969 car.The first 5 Numbers being common to all 1969 Coupes. I have most all of the trim parts and windshield trim, some small parts may be missing like the gas cap cover ect, but nothing major. I can store the car for a month or so if the buyer needs time to pick it up. The only mechanical modification I see is a aluminum intake and Holley Carburetor. The windows and motors are in the doors, just down. The engine is 427 cu inch 390 horsepower, 460 Ftlbs torque 10.25 to 1 compression. I have only had 1 negative feedback in 15 years and 1800 positive.
