Car description

Just in time for summer, here is a classic convertible that looks good, drives great and sounds awesome for you to tool around in. It's the first year for the Malibu, offered as the top trim level on the Chevelle and named after the California city known for its natural beauty, beaches, and movie stars. Check it out, take a ride. You just might feel like a movie star cruising down the Pacific Coast Highway. The automotive marketplace was changing... rapidly in the sixties. Everybody wanted mid-sized cars to sport around in and the Malibu was Chevrolet's answer. Obviously, they hit it out of the park with this design. Presented in the classic color combination of Black on Red, this one adds the interesting twist, and pleasant surprise, of a White convertible roof that looks great. Up front, the grill on this car is unique as it was on the '64 only, changed right away for some reason on the '65s. It is trimmed in polished brightwork and underlined by a shiny chrome bumper. Chevelle in script and 283 over crossed racing flags graces the front fender, while a Malibu badge appears on the rear fender. The simple, clean lines of the body are reflected in the simple clean lines of the trunk with the rear trim panel tying together the taillights and the sharp looking bumper that underlines it. The car sits on chrome Rally wheels with center spin hub caps that really add a nice splash of flash to the car. Open the door, (or just look inside if the roof is down), and you will find a very fresh interior done in Red. There are thin chrome highlights on the pleated door panels and a dashboard of brushed aluminum with chrome piping trimming out the panel and the gauges. A three spoke aftermarket wheel wrapped in vinyl has a column shifter for the automatic trans and a Sun Super Tach sitting directly in front of it. To the right is the factory AM radio, but in the glove-box is a "secret audio" digital radio that is iPod compatible along with some "not so secret" Sony speakers in the rear footwells pumping out some of those awesome sounds we said this car makes. Pleated bucket seats are comfortable for a day of cruising, and the red boot that covers the top while it is down dresses the car out nicely. Under the hood you will find a neat and clean engine bay with a nicely warmed over, and nicely dressed out 283 nestled inside. The engine breathes in through a chrome Bowtie air filter housing which sits on a Holley 4-barrel carb and an Edelbrock intake. An HEI ignition system assured proper spark, and long tube headers help it breath out efficiently. Chromed Chevrolet valve covers and fan shroud add some more shine to the engine and an aluminum radiator keeps things running cool. New components include the alternator and A/C compressor as well as the belts and hoses. Power is sent back through a 2-speed Powerglide transmission to a solid axle sitting on coil springs. A control arm front suspension with coil springs and power disc brakes assure good handling and stopping power. A dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers works in conjunction with those headers to add yet more great sounds to the experience of driving this car. Come on down and check out this sweet ride. Then take it home and get ready for summer time cruising.
