Car description

First. I want to remind everyone this truck is 63 years old! It has scratches and dings and dents. Lower rear corners of cab are really good but not perfect. There are pinholes. see photos. The truck spent sometime on gravel roads. there are stone pox here and there. But after everything I just said. it truly is an awesome truck and I get a huge amount of thumbs up and offers when I am out in it. One lady got po'd when I told her it wasn't for sale 4 years ago. she said "I hadn't heard her offer". I told her" I didn't want to hear her offer. it wasn't for sale!"This truck of mine is an excellent example of a stock factory truck with the exception of 1 repaint back before 1975. The color was originally Burgundy Maroon. but the previous owner had it sprayed more of a Rich Dark Red. It's close to factory color. Paint is still good. I have owned it for more than 4 years and put less than 400 miles on it since my Dec 2010 purchase. Truck has less than 53000 original miles. I located it in Minn. It spent some of it's time prior to 1975 as a company vehicle at a dairy co-op. delivering cream. I found dated delivery stubs from the 50's up under the dash when I got it. Solid frame and body panels. Even has the original wood bed in good condition. It drives straight and true. Brakes are very good and require little effort. 4 speed granny gear transmission. All gauges work properly. actually everything works as it was intended. Vacuum wipers work when last tested about 6 months ago. I don't drive this when weather is wet. Motor starts right up and runs great. Cylinder compression test #1-115psi. #2-115psi. #3-113psi. #4-108psi. #5-113psi. #6-115psi. Compression was tested at room temp. sea level. cold motor. all plugs removed. This truck is drive able from the time you receive it. No lube. or oil. or adjustments needed. Original 6 volt system as manufactured. Painted hubcaps. grill. and bumpers were OEM for 1953. The condition of the truck is truly amazing considering it's age. I was told it sat covered in a barn from 1975 till I found it with the help of an agent in 2010. It arrived to me with 1969 tires and they were still serviceable! hubcaps are original. Bumpers should be gray. but they were black when I got it. so I kept them that way. Running boards are very solid. but do have small dents or dings. Here's only SOME of what I've done to it since purchase:I Added turn signals by building them into the OEM style parking and tail light structures. You can't tell they are there until you activate them. New brakes. master cylinder and wheel cylinders as needed. I added an good OEM used rear bumper with new brackets from Jim carpenter. New aftermarket front bumper. All 5 wheels and lock rings media blasted and painted before mounting and balancing 5 new polyester 8 ply (OEM type) tires in 2012. Tires have less than 400 miles on them. Inner tubes were replaced as needed. Rebuilt steering gear box. new bearings. bushings and seals. No leaks anymore. Replaced seal at rear of transmission tube. Replaced battery. Replaced ground strap from battery to frame. Replaced door sill seals. Replaced trans cover (new)Replaced generator (new)Replaced starter (new)Replaced water pump (new)New tail lights and loom. New rubber tailgate chain covers. New correct muffler and mounting strap. new exhaust pipe from motor rearward. New exhaust from muffler rearward. New front leaf spring eyebolts and bushings. Replaced thermostat and top hose. Replaced heater hoses. Replaced fan belt (new). New coil. wires. plugs. points. condensor. cap. Replaced carb with NOS unit 2 years ago (not rebuild but NOS!). New fuel line from pump to carb. Replaced fuel pump last year. (New airtex). Replaced fuel filter at carb and added primary fuel filter at tank outlet under truck. Adjusted valves and replaced valve cover gasket. Flushed radiator. All fluids changed or topped as needed. New wiper blades. Replaced fuel sender unit and seal. Replaced floor mat. seat upholstery. door panels. headliner and interior door handles. New sunvisors. Replaced front L and R glass and windshield seal. replaced rear window seal. All glass OEM except windshield(s)Added New old school black with chrome "lift" buckel seat belts. New locking gas cap. Mounted the spare back up under the bed where the factory originally placed it. New headlight SS bezels and seals. Replaced dash bulbs as needed. And plenty more. I have adjusted and cleaned and fixed and replaced everything I could find that was incorrect. needed attention or was just plain worn out. Some very cool things that I added:Added 12 Volt Sony am/fm/cd/ipod controller/aux input head unit. Unit is mounted professionally in glove box. 12 volt voltage booster and silent 12v cooling fan is mounted behind glove box to supply power to stereo and keep everything cool inside the glove box. in the harshest heat. Speakers and baffled speaker box is undetectable under dash. AM FM radio antenna is actually 2 thin copper wires hidden between glass and seal around interior perimeter of windshield(s). it is completely invisible and works awesome. All of this runs flawlessly and on less than 2 amps. Key must be in on position to operate. you can further shut it off with downstream micro toggle under dash driver's side. With the glove box closed. you would never know. Air filter is premium OEM oil bath type except it has been professionally gutted and converted to dry paper element type. Completely undetectable. Added 2 speed period correct OEM GM cooling fan at driver's windshield post controlled by micro toggle under dash. Fan blades are rubber. Fan is in excellent condition. A Heater control valve is now undetectable and mounted between the heater assembly and interior firewall pad. Controlled by push pull action of Ivory colored knob/cable located at original heater control location at dash. Fewer hoses underhood for a cleaner look. No mods made to anything. so completely reversible if you choose. It's a late model switch that fits perfectly and is corrosion proof. This truly is a turnkey truck.
