Car description

1949 Chevrolet Styleline Business Coupe

Hey, thanks for taking the time to check out our little 1949 Deluxe Business Coupe. Great car and it's hard to find one in this condition. The Business Coupe, is a design of its own and the perfect car for anyone who wants an Old School Hot Rod. The business coupe has a shortened roof line, and smaller quarter windows, which really give it a factory low slung type of look. It's perfect for any hot rod minded person. They are just really good looking. I love the swoopy lines on this car, with its Torch Red exterior, Tuxedo Black top, and yes, those old school flames are just in the right place. This car was built about 15 years ago. It was one of the cars oncenter stage at the Albany Hot Rod and Custom show in Oregon, last spring, and it really is a great looking car for sure. This car was built to drive, not a trailer queen. A good friend of mine owned, it and went all over the Northwest in the last few years, it is a great driver, and perfect road car. As you look around it, she is not stock anymore, it is running a built 383 Stroker, Turbo 350 AT transmission, Headers, Mustang II front suspension, Power disc brakes, and power steering. It really is a lot of fun to drive for sure. It was set up with nitrous, but has never ran on it. My friend who owned the car is in his 70s and someone said we should put a nitrous system on it, and so it was added for fun. He never got to enjoy that feature, which is probably a good thing because he just likes to cruise it. Check out all the photos. There are a few flaws from being driven and age, but overall its an all steal classic that someone will enjoy right away. Give me a call if you have questions. I would be glad to answer, thanks, Jason 503-910-2085

Make sure to see all the photos! - INSIDE - OUTSIDE - ENGINE - UNDERCARRIAGE

Overall, it is very presentable and looks great for a driver or parade car. It is amazing, how bright this car is out in the sun. I took the photos under sunlight and on overcast days so you could get a good look at it. The body is in great condition, paint work was done well back about 15 years ago, someone took their time when redoing it. It has various chips, some small scratches that have been touched up, but very minor stuff. I try to show some, mostly around the hood edges and scuff plate areas, from getting in and out, but just wanted to mention them. Most people wouldn't even notice right off, but the more you are around it, you might notice little things here and there.

One significant thing is that when it was first painted, someone filling the fuel tank let a little gas run down the side, so it did damage the paint a little bit. Out in the light, your probably wouldn't notice, but it did do some damage. I checked the paint and some paint did come off a little. You can see this in the pictures. I believe this is a deluxe model, but the side trim was taken off during the restoration. It ran down the fender and door. You can see the rest of the factory chrome and stainless. The stainless deluxe stone guards on the rear fenders just look great on this car. Overall the stainless and trim are in decent shape, but do show a little age, but again look fantastic for its age. The car could use little things here and there, but over all, it is a solid car. It is pretty straight down the sides and really is eye catching for sure. Take a look at the photos, it is a very nice driver/show car, one that you can take to cruise-ins and have the time of your life.

This is a good look at the interior. Overall it is very clean. There is a little wear but mostly a very nice interior. The back seat area is finished for passengers as well. This gives you a good look at the size of the quarter windows. They aren't the huge ones in the regular couple models. The seats are clean, no smoke, no pets, no holes or rips. The carpet is in good shape, with a little age but still look nice. All the interior is custom and looks nice, including the door panels. About the only thing I would change is the steering wheel to something more original, but that is an easy change for sure.

The car does stay nice and dry inside, the rubber and gaskets seem to be in good shape. The dash is really nice looking for sure. This car did have AC installed in at some point, you can see some of the controls, but it has been removed, which you will see when you look under the hood. The windows all roll up and down nicely and door panels are custom. The trunk area is all finished off, carpeted etc. However, they used a wrinkle type finish paint on the bottom of the trunk lid itself and it shrunk. The paint under the underside of trunk lid is starting to peal off. It needs to be cleaned off underneath and re-coated at some point. Other then that the trunk area is in very nice condition, solid floor etc.

The dash lights all work, interior lights, exterior lights are all working. The under-dash radio works as well. You will see that it has new white face gauges, the odometer is stuck on 9999.9 and will not roll over anymore, and the speedo works. The idiot lights have been moved to the bottom gauges below dash, the Amp, Temp and Oil Pressure are working below dash, the rest of the gauges left in main unit do work. The AC as I mentioned above is under the dash area but the stuff that was under the hood has been removed, not sure why, but I believe you could get the rest of the parts to make it work down the road. The heater blower works as well through the AC unit I believe, it turns on and blows. The horn and cigarette lighter also work.

Under the hood of this car is really clean. They did a great job and didn't leave a lot of wiring all over the place. You can see it has black matching valve covers, an air cleaner, Edelbrock Aluminum 4v intake, and Edelbrock 4v carb. It is also running electronic ignition. It does have a cam in it, and sounds famtastic. It has a great hot rod sound actually. The engine is a 383 Stroker, I am not sure what has been done internally and don't know specs at all, but I know it has a pretty lumpy cam in it. It has headers and dual exhaust that drops right before the rear axle. If I were to keep the car any longer, I would continue the exhaust out the rear of the car, under the bumper. It can be a little rumbly inside, but most of all, I just like the look of seeing the tail pipes personally.

The transmission is a built Turbo 350, and shifts great with no issues. Also, there are no signs of any engine or transmission leaks and it has a very clean undercarriage. The front is a Mustang II unit with power steering and power brakes. Everything is hidden out of the engine compartment which is very nice. Disc brakes upfront and drums in the rear. Overall, it is in great shape mechanically. It does have power steering which works great. On long swoopy turns out in the country, I can feel a tiny bit of pulsating in the steering wheel. It is very minor but you can feel it a little. Take a look at the pictures. It is a great little car mechanically like I mentioned earlier. It drives nice and was built to be driven, not a show queen. It has taken a lot of trips all over the Northwest to shows and events. The undercarriage is nice with no rust. The floors and frame look like they are in very good condition. I included photos of the undercarriage.

The Cowl tag is still on the car, as you can see under the hood, but the original ID tag, that goes on the drivers side window pillar, fell off at some point, they are just spot welded on their original, and after time, they can come off. The car was in Washington State just above Oregon, and they assigned a new VIN tag to it, you can see pictures of it in the auction, it matches the title.

The tires are in good shape, they have about 75%-80% with good wear. They are 215/60/15 upfront and 235/60/15 in the rear, the wheels are American Racing, they are 14", believe 14x7 and 14x8.

I've sold classic cars on eBay since 2003. During the past 14 years, I have sold around900 classic cars sold online through eBay, Craigslist and BringATrailer auctions to buyers across the country and internationally, including Europe, Dubai, Australia, Japan and Brazil, just to name a few.

What I love about these old cars, is that I get to own some of my favorite cars one at a time, I have turned this passion into a business, but for me it is an awesome time to enjoy the cars themselves. I've enjoyed getting to know other car enthusiast from all over the Continent, especially some that have become very good friends of mine because of our love for cars.

If you would like to call me and talk about the car, that would be great. I would love to help you out. Feel free to schedule a day to come out before you bid or send a friend, inspector or transporter. Although I always try to detail every nuance with the vehicles, it is always better if possible to see it with your own eyes. I am close to a major airport and many transportation options.

These are classic vehicles with lots of history. They are used, and not perfect. They don't have warranties or guarantees. Each vehicle is sold as-is. There are many reputable inspectors in and around Salem and I will accommodate their schedules. I try to give a good description and post at least 75 photos so you can get a good gauge of what it is, and isn't. Thanks and talk to you soon, Jason 503-910-2085
