This is a 1985 Chevy S10 Shortbed Street Rod. This year and body style is the lightest version of this truck of all the production runs. It is an original non air truck that was in true survivor condition before this build. There are not many surviving examples of these trucks these days despite the high production numbers, and very few in this condition. It was a full frame off Pro Build and there are pictures of the project included on this page. It weighs in at less than 2700 pounds dry and could be made even lighter with interior and other weight reductions. The engine is built around the Super Chevy Magazine feature article "Danger Mouse" project build and should be 500 HP at the flywheel according to their build and Edelbrocks kit numbers - we have a chassis dyno session set up for the 18th of August and if the truck sells locally before then the buyer is welcome to that paid for dyno session - otherwise we will upload video of that session when completed The truck is street legal and can comfortably be used on the street or track or both. It launches perfectly straight and predictable - you can either overpower the tires all the way up or learn how to launch it for almost wheels up weight transfer traction. It foot brakes to about 2500, converter comes in all the way around 3500, and the shift light is set for 5500 - all of that happens very quickly with only a couple seconds in each gear (often less in first). It has excellent 4 wheel disc brakes and stops hard and steers and corners firmly with big 16 inch performance tires on the front and 275/16 M&H Dragmaster Drag Radials out back It drives extremely well with all new suspension pieces and large 16 in wheels and tires and has plenty of power. It doesn't smoke or overheat - you can sit in traffic or cruises and it never gets past the 180s on the temp gauge - it is a very reliable driver and a serious drag truck for not a lot of money. It has 3.73 gears so you are not killing the motor on the street and it has a suprising 60 foot time and quick top out in each gear with that ratio. An important point - Most vehicles like this have gone through dozens of high school graduating classes and have been wrecked, painted and repainted numerous times over shoddy bodywork and in the hands of novice mechanics and abusive drivers over the last 32 years - not this one - this truck was professionally built by a talented team who did a complete frame off restoration and modification build and adult owned since completed - We have pictures of the truck before it was touched and it was definitely in survivor condition. Most of these type trucks are cobbled together sketchy builds typically sourcing a worn out truck and combining it with a worn out stock V8 engine - not this one - if that is the price point you are looking for then I'm sure you will find one that needs tons of work and will likely cost more in the long run The total cost to date is well over the sale price offered here - Anyone with a Summit or Jegs catalog can walk around this truck and easily add up over $25,000 grand worth of speed parts alone. The asking price is cheap compared to just the labor put in on this build - No matter what this sale is a give away - you could not build this car for what I am asking even if someone gave you a clean S10 to start with for free! The truck is a turn key running, driving, licensed vehicle. |

The engine is a fully built 355 Chevy that has build parameters that are pretty much exactly the same as the ongoing Super Chevy Magazine feature build titled "Danger Mouse" where they achieved 520 Horsepower with a normally aspirated non bottle fed 350. The engine is the same 4 bolt main GM block with the same Edelbrock E-Tech 170 Aluminum heads, Full Roller Cam and Valvetrain, Billet Holley Double Pumper on Edelbrock Air Gap intake as in the article with Jet Hot Coated Headers, Trans Go built Turbo 400 with 9 inch 3600 Stall converter - the list goes on and on This truck has never been wrecked or rotted. All body lines are original and virtually untouched aside from prep and repaint - Use the pictures to determine straightness and condition - simply amazing for a 32 year old truck - even the inside of the bed is surprisingly clean Use the pictures as reference on these comments and also get with me on the phone if you need further info - I have included many images including under car shots and build pics and we will upload video of the Dyno session when completed to prove mechanical soundness and capability. Naturally you will have your own opinion on what it may need and that could be any where from just a few upgrades OR you could just drive it the way it is! Too much to go into here - List of brand new and newer parts is about 700 items long - cash only firm buyer please no lookers - Please know what you buying here - buyer should have an understanding of this type of vehicle, the cab size of S-10 pickups, how a stall converter works and what it is like to drive a car with one on the street and generally know what is up - I really don't have the time it will require to be explaining everything and giving lessons so please understand this before you reply Have a look - it truly is an exciting vehicle - Please reply with a phone number for a response on specific details that would require a lengthy typed explanation |

The pictures above indicate what a huge labor effort went into this build. Knowing what I know about this truck it is safe to say that I will just keep it if my price is not met. There is no way it could be replaced or duplicated for the sale price therefore any offers below asking price will have to be negotiated as to what parts will be coming off the truck in order to acheive a lower sale price - In short, the "Buy it Now" is the sale price turn key, and the "Make Offer" feature very likely means some of the brand new parts will be coming off and going on other projects here - I am fine with dealing to a certain point if you have your own parts to replace - not interested in selling as a roller unless the offer is strong enough For the most part this tuck is 100% top notch and ready to go. There are a couple things we are sorting out and some that the new owners may need to address. There is no stereo although there is a DIN mount in place in the dash. A minor drip has been seen sometimes coming from steering gearbox input shaft seal only - nowhere else. We have the complete gearbox rebuild kit and are trying to get to it. Minor trans pan drip - it is an aluminum finned Trans Go pan and may just need tightening - it is not all wet underneath, just a drip when parked. Also it likely needs Polyurethane lower motor mounts - they were out of stock when the engine got dropped in so it is sitting on rubber lower mounts which is not correct in my opinion, nor would I like solid mounts. That one may be for the buyer to change out if they feel the same way as me about it. The engine does not move around once warmed up or under power, but with that heavy camming, until it warms up and reaches thermal equilibrium you can hear the engine moving on the rubber mounts. Also the wiring is there for the wipers, blower motor and horn, but they are currently not hooked up. All wiring is new and from a Painless kit and it all works. Other than these minor things it is well sorted out and seriously fast and solid |
You can thank ebay management for the following increasingly more strict terms of these auctions All items are as described and as is - No excuses or stories and we expect the same from our buyers. We want you to be happy with your purchase, so please ask any questions that you need answered - look at the pictures, carefully read the description and ask any questions in advance of bidding because it is your responsibility to insure you are going to be happy with this purchase, not ours. This is cash only sale with an immediate downpayment due via Paypal at the end of the auction. If you are not capable of doing a cash deal you will need to contact the seller PRIOR TO BIDDING to arrange other terms. The seller will not be held liable for any such cancellation and/or closure. Your bid is a binding agreement to buy not to come and look - According to EBAY POLICY your bid is a legal binding contract to purchase by law. Ebay continues to change their terminology on this policy, but the most recent version can be viewed here - http://pages.ebay.com/help/buy/bidding-overview.html Non paying bidders can be considered in breach of contract and handled as a delinquent account by law and submitted to our collection agency for collections which may include a restocking fee, storage or holding costs, late fees and all ebay charges |
